The wife and I did not like this place at all. We are sushi lovers. The albacore was very dry and not good at all. The yellow tail just as bad. No way we will ever go there again.

Terrible service, don't waste your time.... I have given them another chance to get things right and nothing has change, this time we walked in and waited 5 minutes while they walked around before asking if we needed a table (DUH) Then they went off walking around like they were lost, we stood there watching them attend to the very few tables as we stand waiting... after being ignored for another 5-10minutes and the staff behind the counters just staring at us like an act at a show, WE LEFT. They weren't busy, They weren't Polite, They weren't welcoming... they may have an all you can eat sushi but you can't if your table isn't all ordering it, their prices may be less than most others but they work harder on making you not wanting to go back...

I don't know what to say for their servers, so bad. I have never seen such a bad service in a restaurant. If you don't have patient, don't go. I guess all rating one star for this restaurant should be about servers. Sushi should be getting more than three stars. The servers are so slow moving, even the sheff looked so frustrated in counter. I don't understand why they hire such severs... For example, one gentlemen was standing up for asking changing the table because his table was hot due to direct sun light, one server should have noticed his 'claim' because she was setting up the table next to his table but she ignored him! I could not help shutting up my mouth to say it to a server. My wife was saying to me no patient but it was more than that... It may be good trading place for getting patience!

The food sucked and was overpriced. we tried the volcano roll which was horrible and couldn't tell what we were eating. The Baked Salmon roll had cream cheese and didn't taste too good either, but 9.50 you would think it would be worth it. Not. The only roll they couldn't fully ruin was the plain ol' California roll my 4 yr. old daughter had. Service was blah, not genuine. And the guys at the sushi bar kept starring at me. Creepy and uncomfortable. Ruined our Friday night family lunch meal. Too bad we didn't go to rattlers BBQ instead. for 22 dollars would have had a better experience and food. Yes we stopped ordering after we got a look at the volcano roll. Please dont give them your money.

This restaraunt deserves 5 stars, everything was great..from the hot food items to the sushi rolls. $19.95 for all you can eat sushi and appetizers is a deal! Come to this please!! Also, their serve was great :]

The first round of sushi was decent, in terms of quality of fish and portion, however when the second round came, I got a paper thin slice of sushi, no exaggeration and a big, enormous ball of rice. I could literally only taste the rice. Given that they warn you about charging for any leftover rice balls, I felt forced to eat all the enormous rice balls under a paper thin sheath of raw fish and had a stomach ache after. The place is run by all Koreans and then it made sense, because this is exactly the way in which Koreans can be sheisty. Low class and low rent.

So I reviewed this place in the past and I didn't give it very good ratings. I have been going back though consistently for the past year (it's close and convenient and better than the other places around). This is now one of my favorite places. They recently revamped their menus and have added a bunch of new and delicious rolls. Some people have complained about the freshness of the fish but I've had almost all of their rolls and tried the sashimi and sushi as well and have never had a problem with it. I do prefer their hot night roll and sean's roll (both are soooooo good) over regular sushi but lately have been eating a lot of salmon and spicy tuna. I also love their dynamite, shrimp tempura and udon..Yum! Service can definitely be spotty at times....I've been going their long enough that most of the people know us now and always give us great service but when it gets busy it can be a slight wait. Overall, I now love this place. They have made some really great and much needed changes that have really made the overall feel of the restaurant better.

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!! Stopped by this little hole for lunch and let me tell you I will NEVER EVER EVER return EVER. The sushi was mediocre if that, I had a lunch combo with a specialty roll that I had to pay extra for because apparently it was not on the approved lunch menu. For some reason they sat us at the a booth with the most amount of direct sunlight when there was no one else in the restaurant. Service was horrible there were 3 other small groups in the restaurant and the waiter was running around like it was his first day (maybe it was). Just because it's $6 cheaper than most places doesn't give them an excuse to pass off week old bait as sushi.

I've been to Hibiki on two other occassions, and I decided that I give my final verdict... On my latest visit, there was no greeting whatsoever. We stood at the entrance for several minutes until we got the attention of a waitress who simply brushed us off. (Mind you, it wasn't exactly packed) The food is mostly gross, save for a few rolls that are good for simply chowing down, such as anything fried (Las Vegas Roll, Crunchy Shrimp Roll). Anything that should be fresh, is soooo not. It's so sad that many times I bite into their fish or oyster and I had an immediate look of disgust. The service as you can tell already is slow. The waitress looked at as with disdain every time we ordered another dish from our "all you can eat" feast. So in order to prevent future orders, she simply did not show up very often. When it came time to pay, she was of course there every other minute!! We didn't have time to even look at the bill, it was just pathetic. On the other occassions we had some male waiters that were on the ball and friendlier, but this lady must be avoided. If you go, you'll know who it is if she is your waitress. I have decided that Hibiki is to be visited no more- its only value is the cheapness factor.

Brought a group of 20 to the restaurant for drink and decent sushi. Had our order wrong. Billed us incorrectly... Then had the nerve to argued with us on the incorrect order and bill. The owner was there and straightened everything out. So we left happy. Second chance better.... Third probably will be better.

I haven't been here in a while and it looks like their menu has changed. The Change:if you want items that are not a part of the AYCE, all you have to do is pay an additional (and designated) amount and it's yours. For starters, I am a roll eater, I like sushi fine but it really has to be from a trusted and upscale restaurant. Call me crazy, but a restaurant known for their AYCE is not your first thought when you think of best of the best. Their selection of rolls is impressive. I read the info on what comprises each roll so that I can weed out the eel and the ones drenched in too much sauce..... And therein lies the problem. All 3 of the rolls I got were DRENCHED in sauce. I couldn't even bother with the 3rd one because I was having a sweet sauce overload. I left feeling like I had drank a jug of simple syrup. I think I might have liked their rolls better without all that dripping, sweet sauce. Either way, we will never know because I can't imagine ever going back.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO THIS PLACE. I am what I consider a very fair and reasonable person when it comes to dining, what I pay, and what I write. Let me tell you one thing, and listen to me very carefully, this place is a complete rip off. Their ad for AYCE Sushi for just $19 leads you to believe you are really getting a great deal. The catch...? The load the rolls with rice, and the menu and table top "WARNING" clearly states that you MUST finish what is on your plate or you will be charged double. THEN... to top it all off, their fish sucks... I have to say, it brought be back to my childhood when I was five years old and my mother made me sit at the table and finish my liver. I remember that gagging feeling, the fear of taking the next bite, etc. Well this was exactly like that. It was such a turn off that my husband and I just had to stop eating. I seriously still think he and I should have walked out of that place without paying but we are honest people and paid the $40 with tax. No, we did not tip for obvious reasons if you have read the rest of the reviews. The service SUCKED. OK... so here's the funny ending to my "story" about this pig pen... Several months after we vowed to NEVER go to this place, my son (16) told me he was going with his choir group from school. I told him he should not waste his money but he insisted he go with the group. He asked for a $25 advance on his allowance but I instead gave him $40 and warned him to eat everything on his plate and bring the extra $ back after the event. What do you think happened...? He came home and said "MOM, THE FOOD WAS SO GROSS AND THEY CHARGED ME DOUBLE FOR NOT FINISHING MY PLATE... !" So... the moral to this story... STAY AWAY and CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

Everyone I know gets sick here. My son got sick one time. I thought it was just a fluke so we came back again and my wife got sick. SO we stopped going. My brother in law went there and he got sick but maybe cause he eat so much but I'm not sure. Food for me was ok but I'll never go back, sorry.

I love this place! My favorite place to eat on special occasions. I definitely recommend this restaurant to others. I recommend the Hot Night Roll or the Crunch Shrimp Temporal Roll.

Based on all of the previous reviews, I was expecting to be spat upon and served spoiled chunks of pre-eaten fish when I had lunch here last week. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised. re: Service While the male host who seated me was a bit gruff, my waitress was very pleasant and attentive. She was able to predict both when I wanted another order sheet and when I needed another beverage without prompting. In short, the service I received was great. re: Food I ordered the AYCE for $19.99. (I also used a 15% off coupon readily available on the internet with no problems.) During my time there I placed 3 or 4 orders consisting of the Heart Attack appetizer, Hibiki Special roll, Sean's roll, Angie's roll, Spicy Tuna cut-roll, Spicy Scallop cut-roll, Yellowtail sushi, and Salmon Egg sushi. (Unfortunately, they were out of the Yellowtail Collar.) The fish quality for each of these items was completely adequate. Not the best ever, but certainly not the worst either. Each piece tasted as it should and had an appropriate texture. Let me reiterate, there was nothing wrong with any of the food I consumed. However, I'll offer a few caveats. First, the premium rolls I consumed were prepared with too much ponzu sauce for my taste. Next time I eat here, I'll order them without this sauce. Second, I'll also skip the cut-rolls and order more sushi. The rice to fish ratio on the cut-rolls was a bit too much for my liking. However, the ratio on the sushi was fine, so in the future I'll order more sushi instead. NOTE: this minor observance was not enough to have me storm out in disgust, never to return. But then, maybe I'm just not as sushi sensitive or perhaps don't have the same sense of sushi entitlement as others. To sum up, I was very happy with the food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant for the money I paid. Actually, since I'm a member of the Gluttony Brigade I found Hibiki's AYCE to be a very good value. I will certainly eat here again.

Scratch the idea that they've improved. The main female waitress is a ()&*%# and their fish is not fresh.. mushy and tasteless. I know 'all you can eat' is tempting for some, but I'd rather spend that same $25 somewhere else & get less food. Because you can't get much worse than crappy food and crappy service...

i'm no sushi snob, especially since i'm a poor college student with no $$$ but this place just sucked. the rolls were tiny and the selection was limited compared to the other AYCE places out there. i had to spit my food out in my napkin in order to not get charged for leftovers because it was that bad. the fish was also too tiny and NOT fresh at all. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR MENU, THEIR FOOD LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES. i learned the hard way after ordering baked green mussels that were so plain. they were also too fishy and tasted nothing like mussels at all! service was alright, only one waiter kept checking-in on us. love sushi is right around the corner so just go there instead! it made me not want to eat sushi for a month! NEVER EVEREVEREVEREVER COMING BACK.

If you are planning to go here on Father's day .... FORGET IT... This day will be a busy day and they will just ignore you after you are seated and and get the All You Can Eat. They have the worst service. They do not know how to hadle a busy day... either they will forget you or they will loose your order and make you wait for a long time. They just want your money and that's it.

Tuesday March 4 2008 Dinner I arrived with my friend Conrad to check this place out for the first time. Conrad has been here a few times and he seems to like it ok. Parking lot was not even crowded which I thought was great because I was wondering if it was going to be crowded or not. When we approached the doors, the doors had a "list" of all the rules about this buffet. I dont remember all the rules but it went something like you must eat all the rice that is with the sushi. Which I understood, no eating just the fish and wasting rice. Another rule I remember was "you must finish everything, leftovers not finished, you will be charged double. So if the meal is $19.99, then they can charge you as much as $40 bucks! Went inside and we were promptly seated, the waitress took our drink order.(not included in buffet price) and proceeded to give us the ground rules. She gave us the menu which had alot of photos of their offerings. After my friend completed the white ticket of what he wanted, he passed it over to me so that I can check off what sushi I wanted the first round. As with most all you can sushi places, you can also order from the kitchen. Here is where I made an almost costly mistake. I ordered a chicken teriyaki from the kitchen along with some sushi from the bar. When we got all the sushi, I was amazed at how much we ordered and I thought, oh no I hope we can finish all this! Then the Teriyaki Chicken came out. What I didnt know, and maybe I should have looked at the menu is that the chicken came with a MOUNTAIN of mashed potatoes. Ok, has anyone ever had mashed potatoes served to them with TeriyakI? Immediately I realized they want me to get full on this potato crap or not finish it and pay double. I was ticked. I even looked at the busboy and asked him "do they really expect me to finish this?" His reply was that of like deer in the headlights. His response on his face anwsered it for me and I knew I had to finish it. However, taking a bite size here, and a bite size there and squeezing it between empty sushi plates like brick and mortar really works at reducing that potato mountain! I was so worried about being double charged that I really didnt enjoy my meal. There really was not one sushi that really stood out as good or great. Lastly I tried the deep fried oysters. That was a joke, it was overbreaded and I can barely taste any oysters at all. After the meal I felt cheated. Didnt have a good feeling afterwards, just an extreme blottieness of over eating sushi. Me and Conrad just waddled out to the car in pain. The next day my friend Conrad decides to play a gag on me and he texts me and says he was at the hospital last night of food poisoning and worms caused by the sushi. I was in pain the night before, and of course I believed him. Hey it could have been true, based on the food we ate. That's ok though, I texted him back and told him that my wife was worried sick and has been crying all day because of what he texted. I think he still believes me until he reads this review :) GOT CHA!!! Giving this place a 1 star review, would have been 3 but 2 stars removed for the stated rules, and the mashed potato incident.

I went there with a friend of mine on a Saturday night for some AYCE sushi. I'd read iffy reviews about it but decided to try it anyway. When we first walked in the door we stood for almost a minute (I'm not complaining about that) before a rushed-looking waiter hurried up and seated us. My friend asked if we could sit at the bar (there were several empty seats) but the waiter said that might not be possible, so we were seated in a booth. Almost immediately another waiter asked what we wanted to drink. My friend asked for just water and I got a Pepsi. They were brought to us in cheap plastic cups, the kind you could find at Wal-Mart for $2 each or something. For the Pepsi I was given the can and a cup of ice. No biggie about that. I just thought it was odd for some reason. After finishing the Pepsi I got just a water. It was totally just tap water, and it wasn't even cold until it had been sitting in the ice for a little bit. We ordered our sushi and when it arrived it looked pretty good. The pieces of fish were cut clean and were a good size, with the perfect amount of rice beneath it. This was definitely reassuring. My friend uses chopsticks, but I prefer to eat with my hands. And usually this works out fine for me. But the rice was so sticky, I was putting more effort into trying to keep my fingers clean and holding it together than actually eating it. Unfortunately I was sick that night so I couldn't taste anything, but the texture of each piece seemed pretty good. It wasn't chewy or slimy at all. We had tuna, yellowtail, albacore, mackerel, white fish, and shrimp. My friend had a shrimp tempura crunch roll, a rainbow roll, and the Lucky 7 (7 freshest fish of the day). The yellowtail was perfect and my favorite. The tuna was same ol' tuna, as were the others. But what I'm assuming was the white fish made me hesitate. I know for some fish the skin is left on, but when I saw the skin was still on the white fish, I was afraid to eat it. I did anyway and didn't have an issue (probably because I couldn't taste it). Everything else was fine. I can't say fantastic, but it was good. Except one piece in the Lucky 7. There was a white piece of sushi that looked similar to a really good fish I'd had at another place. It was pure white and very clean-looking, so I picked it up first. When I went to eat it, it was not the soft fish I expected. Instead it had a rubbery texture and was difficult to bite through. I ate half then offered the rest to my friend. He first smelled it (I couldn't smell anything) and said it smelled like soap. Then he put it in his mouth and had to resist spitting it out. He said it tasted like soap, too, and that the texture didn't help. I still have no idea what it was. The service was alright. Almost halfway through our meal, the waiter who seated us told us he was our waiter for the rest of the night because our waiter clocked out. I found that odd.. But we were checked on often enough, I can't complain about that. The decor was a ton of cliche Japanese stuff (little painted vases, 'old' tapestries, dozens of paper umbrellas) just put up everywhere. The music was a combination of Japanese electronic and just bad American music. It had a very cheesy feel to it. It was a good experience overall. I don't think I'd go there again willingly. It's nothing to rave about. But it wasn't horrible. At least the waiters were all really nice.

This was my worst experience ever! When we walked in, we asked to sit at the sushi bar but we were denied since they didn't have enough chefs. After twenty minutes we finally got to order from their "All you can eat" menu. We ordered two appetizers which came almost thirty minutes later. I found it hard to believe that it took that long to get our order. There were only four other couples and three servers. We were so hungry we didn't want to leave, but that was a big mistake. After ordering our sushi rolls, we waited another thirty minutes and we still didn't receive our food. We finally got tired on waiting and asked for the check. I explained to one of their manager what had happened and they stated that I should come back another day when they are fully staffed. Are you kidding me I told him, you guys couldn't even refill my drink. There was NO customer service what-so-ever

The worst sushi in the world if you can call it sushi. The fish was warm and glazed with something shiny that was tasteless. The sushi chefs are very rude. I have 4 other friends that have tried the place and they agree with me. So take this as 4 people saying "Eek" or more like Yuck!

Everyone has already said it... so I will just narrow it down to 3 things: 1. Terrible service: slooooow, arrogant, and angry korean servers -- specially the fat dude that seated us. 2. Loud music that plays over and over and over and over.... 3. Terrible sushi: really nasty, old, dried up bait. Ughhh, really disgusting. Dont go for the AYCE otherwise they will try to charge you double for not finishing all those thin slices of bait served with an incredible amount of rice btw. You are really better off getting that fish sandwich at burger king....

My friends and I decided to try this place out since we were in the area. It is located literally in the corner so it's tricky to get to. However, upon entering (on a Sunday evening) inside, it was not busy and I asked the hostess if my friends and I could sit at the bar. She copped and attitude and replied, why? I'm going to have to see if I can do that. I responded, well I don't see that you guys are busy, I shouldn't see why not. In fact, I would prefer only sitting at the bar since my friends and I are doing "all you can eat". If not, I will go elsewhere, no problem. From there, she realized I may in fact leave, so she said, fine okay..but you have to sit at the far end. (literally against the wall). LOL. Seriously? I just ignored it and sat 3 seats over. Our dining experience wasn't so great either, the sushi chef hardly spoke and seriously didn't understand simple english. He came off to be a bit rude at times. The sushi rice was very soggy, (watery) wet, yes wet..as if they dipped the entire roll in water before serving it. This experience makes me understand that once you find a good sushi joint, stick to it! (Yamato in stevenson ranch, and light and healthy in tarzana). I really wished I could have rated better but service and staff were not professional. Food quality was sub par. Find another place to enjoy an evening of sushi.

Hibiki was horrible the first few weeks it opened, but it actually not bad ... but all in all, it was alright service, nice waiters, weird ambiance. REALLY good full-of-fish rolls, but a shitty(but hilarious) poor english menu. K, first, here is my story about it... I absolutely adored the sushi place that was here before called Yama Sushi, but when these 2 geisha-looking girls came into my work and handed me a flyer I was shocked to see Yama had shut down and it was changed to Hibiki. After looking at the flyer I was laughing hysterically at the poor english... completely hysterical. In fact, everyone at my work and all my friends have been laughing at the flyers. They were offering a free buffet for their grand opening so i decided to give it a try... and it was pretty bad. I mean, I kindof expected it from a grand opening free buffet at a sushi place... and even worse, when we tried to order from the menu (which is just their flyer, they have no set menu) they wouldn't let us. SO! I decided to come back a different day to try their rolls. Which brings me to my main review... I had gotten their Spicy tuna tempura roll (which was ok.. kindof bland in flavor), Dragon roll (delicious, huge portions of eel), and Sunshine roll (HUGE portions of tuna, which was delicious as well). The only thing.... I ordered it for pick up and it was ready when I got there, but they didnt give me any eel sauce or anything on any of my rolls!! Thats alright though, atleast they didnt have to cover any taste up. I hadn't tried any of their other specialties like Shabu Shabu and Kushi Yaki though.

I am suprised by all the bad reviews on here. We have gone here about 5 times and have never had a bad experience. The service may have been a little slow at times but we have a 1 year old who eats really slow and occupies a lot of our time, so maybe thats why we never really noticed. The sushi is always good when we go also, and you can't beat the $20 all you can eat price.....we never knew that you would get charged if you didnt eat half your item, but than again we know what we like and never order more than we can eat...you can always order more. and we also never knew about the time limit, again we never got treated bad or ignored there.....I would recommend this place to a friend and we will go back.

Had the basic tempura which should be a staple for Japanese food and the sauce was basically a chicken teriyaki sauce that was watered down. I could not use the sauce. I used shoyu instead which was far better than the sweet dipping sauce. Also felt very pressured to finish the sushi because it was all you can eat. If you don't finish any portion of the all you eat, you have to pay per item. Chicken teriyaki was very crumbly. Sometimes heard Korean pop music playing in the background. Just a bit bizarre...and that's the truth!

I'm not a sushi snob and I'm not new to sushi either, but this place has good sushi. My last experience here was good. I guess they could work on their social skills a little more but if that's the only thing keeping you from going to Hibiki, then I suggest you try going on a Friday night when there's more people (and better service if you get there early).

We ate here about 3 times since it opened since the price was resonable with a coupon but not anymore. The food is so so.. The services is horrible. The Manager is very rude and unfriendly. I would never, ever go to this restaurant again. There are plenty of Sushi place restaurants to go to. I do NOT recommand this place.

Horrible, Terrible, Nasty, Rude... etc etc. Went here for Valentine's Day and I realize it was busy due to still offering regular pricing although special day... however, CANNOT stand restaurants that have BAD service. Extremely rude management and servers in particular one older KOREAN lady who totally ignored our table... then only gave us "one" hour for the all you can eat sushi BUT it took so LONG to bring out the order that even if you wanted to eat more you couldn't cause the one hour time limit was up... then my hubby had to get his own beer due to ignoring us. I had to get up to ask for more ginger and wasbi from the management due to being ignored again. Then when I complained to the management... answer was oh... she is like that don't worry we are trying to get rid of her... needless to say we will NEVER come here EVER again!!! Then they said come at lunch when we are not so busy... WHATEVER!!! Oh and the sad thing is... the food was actually decent even on such a busy day... but rude service does not make up for the quality of food especially when there are so many other restaurants that have both

This is a disaster. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! These people are frauds. Last week I found a flyer on my car windshield. At first, distant glance, I thought it was for Hisho. As I got closer, I saw it was for a place called Hibiki. After looking it over, I began to get curious because the English on the flyer was the type that has come to be known as "Engrish" over here. Now, this type of writing is also common in Korean, China, European countries, etc., but it is Japan that has become infamous for it. Later in the week, I decided to look up Hibiki online. I was not able to find any information for the U.S., but did find that there is a small chain of upscale restaurants in Japan called exactly Hibiki Dynamic Kitchen & Bar, with the same logo, which has locations in all of the major sections of Tokyo. At that point, I was getting excited. There was some trepidation though, why would an upscale Japanese restaurant make their first entry in Canyon Country of all places? Furthermore, the menu the flyer was promoting was nothing like the menu of the restaurants in Japan. Friday night we headed over there to try it out. I believe this was to be their first full-service night, having opened the day before with a free buffet. The outside looked nice, but once we got in the door, nothing was right. The first thing was a gathering of grumpy people at the entrance. Many were waiting to pay, and had apparently been waiting for quite some time. Others were waiting to be seated, or just waiting to try and get their name in a list to be seated, which was our status. Simultaneously, my wife noticed the waitstaff's decidedly un-Japanese uniforms, and I noticed a sign above the register in Korean. Now, these two things alone, mean nothing. Of course, many peoples are capable of running restaurants well. It just seemed a little out of place and raised questions. It could have been this was just who paid for franchise rights to open restaurants here. As we continued waiting to put in our name - and being snubbed so that they could ring-up finished customers - we looked over the inside of the restaurant, we noticed virtually nobody had been served, and many looked to be getting upset. We exchanged looks and just walked out of there. Once home, my wife wrote to the parent company of Hibiki in Japan to ask them if there was any affiliation, and if not to warn them that their name was going to be run into the ground over here. Just now, which is 10am Monday in Japan, we received a reply confirming our suspicions. This restaurant has nothing to do with the true Hibiki in Japan. This is a cheap rip-off. I don't even understand why they would do this, it's not like many people here would have heard of the original Hibiki. If they couldn't come up with an original idea, they could have at least made some minor changes, not stolen the name, service mark, and logo completely. If they're going to steal all of that, at least then have the decency to steal some of the quality and serve a similar menu. The true Hibiki has not yet decided what they will do about this, they've only had an hour to think about it anyway. Personally, I hope they get this place shut down, but I don't know how feasible that is since they have no presence here. One thing we can all do as people who appreciate a good meal is at least drive these people out of business by simply not eating there. From what I've seen, you wouldn't want to anyway.

We LOVE this place. coming here on a Friday night has now become a tradition for us once a month with friends. I have been here a lot of times and never had a bad experience. Sometimes the service can be a tiny bit slow, but when they are making everything fresh for you thats not unexpected. No worse than any other sushi bar. Im really picky about sushi and dont like a lot of it, but I like theirs. Thats also what makes their all you can eat so fab, its not limited to just sushi, so if your not a huge sushi fan you can get like one roll and still get tons of other stuff to make it worth it like gyozas, teryaki chicken, chicken on a stick or even tempura shrimp! I had seen reviews on here about them charging if you dont eat it all, so I asked our waitress about it. She said as long as you eat the majority of your food they dont charge. They only charge if you order a bunch of things and eat only one or two peices of each roll. Thats completely reasonable, considering the AYCE is only $20 and if everyone came in and ordered a ton of food and then didnt eat it they would waste so much money that they wouldnt be able to offer the AYCE for $20 (the cheapest and most varied ACYE in the valley btw). We have also never had the problem that other people mentioned of too much rice. Our rolls have always been packed with fish and flavor. If you like Sake Bombs like we do, you cant beat their prices. $3.75 for a large STRONG hot saki and like $5 for a large japaneese beer...cant beat it. All said and done for a Friday night of all you can eat sushi, including a beer and a saki, our total is always $40 per person including tip. Not bad considering you are FULL as can be and got drinks out of it too. Maybe some of those old reviews are from before they changed management about a year ago. Also, if you go, make sure its someones birthday...the brithday music they play and the strobe lights they turn are are a good time, and the free tempura ice cream they give you is great! LOL Im just sad that I stayed away from this place for so long becuase of the reviews on here. Im beyond glad that a friend told me it was great and took us to try it!!

Let me start by saying that being Japanese, I am very picky that a restaurant that claims to be a "Japanese" restaurant should learn recipes that are authentic to Japanese Culture. Although this restaurant is obviously owned by Korean owners by the language spoken amongst the staff and owners, there are some non-Japanese owners who make sure that they learn how proper Japanese food should be cooked and served. We went on Valentine's Day....BIG mistake. They were too busy to handle the load. We were told that Sushi orders could not be submitted because they were too backed up and the there was NO estimated time they could give as to when the sushi would come out. Oh well, not a great first impression. Also, the "All you can eat" menu excludes some of the best stuff. TASTE.... The sushi was decent. It passed on taste and also on proper consistency where rice and fish was concerned. BUT, the kitchen food was horrible. It was so bad both my wife and i could not eat it. It was made with the oddest texture that it was hard to even swallow. Someone needs to learn how to COOK a proper Teriyaki Chicken meal. The chicken was made of the poorest quality and cheapest part of the chicken. It actually CRUMBLED in my mouth. The sauce was "fishy" tasting and gross. The dinner plate did not come with rice, but with mash potato! I had to ask for rice. Strange... Their cost cutting on the kitchen made food will definitely hurt them in the long run. My wife ordered a mixed tempura dinner that the menu claimed to include 10 pieces. When it arrived, it only had 6 pieces. We sent it back to get our missing 4 pieces. I truly hope that this place does well and gets their food cooked right. Restaurants are hard, and I feel bad when they don't succeed. It's a good thing that they did a decent job on the sushi, even though i don't think it's a good business practice to tell people the sushi chefs won't take orders until they catch up.

So we've been going there twice a week for 3 weeks and I'll admit we didn't have much of a problem, however, this time was really bad,and pretty much proved all the previous reviews accurate and we won't be going back there any more. We thought we were good customers and I tipped very well, only to find out tonight that appears that we may have been a burden all along. Their all you can eat is NOT really all you can eat!!! After going their so many times, we were told tonight that there are "Rules" for the all you can eat. One of the rules is that you can't leave food on your plate, otherwise you'll be charged. So what determines how much of waste is chargeable and at what cost?? I didn't let them charge me to find out. Additionally, I asked the manager in training why this isn't posted anywhere and why this wasn't mentioned before we order the so called all you can eat? His answer was " you come all the time, I thought you knew the rules". Additionally, he moves on to say that he won't bring us out anymore food because he felt that we wouldn't eat it. So we never received our lobster rolls. I asked him, how he determines that we can't finish it. He says "the last time we came we didn't finish our food". This was untrue by the way, I think he got us mixed up with some else. For a 60.00 night out for a couple in the midst of a recession shouldn't feel like having to deal with other miscellaneous bs at dinner. I can over look forgetfulness and slightly bad service, but you combine this with a crappy all you can eat and the way we were spoken to at the restaurant, There are many other choices. I think this is another business that will close down in the next 6 months or so. So use up any gift certificates you might have!!!

My husband and I went to Hibiki for dinner with friends a few weeks back and had the same pleasant experience as the 3-times before that. An all you can eat dinner for $20 per person, with a large variety of options as well as the food made fresh for you and brought to you (not spinning on some buffet belt- YUCK) ... it was an enjoyable experience. The service has always been great and everyone has always been friendly and we have never had to flag down a waiter for our food, drink refills, or bill. That is good service. My husband can smell things from miles away and I am a very picky eater so together we have never had an issue of fishy smelling sushi or the restaurant giving off strong nasty smells which tells me they are clean. The food is good, not bland but not incredible, overall pretty tasty really. This is Canyon Country people and while you might believe that you should be served as if you were in Beverly Hills, this little place does a good job of taking care of us and serving us clean, fresh food and should get more props. For those of you reading a review and thinking against going because of the negative reviews... our friends were considering not coming with us for their first time because of these bad reviews & luckily they came anyway and have since written their own review to let you all know... it was good and we had a good time and are sure you will too! Enjoy!

this place is horrible, nasty food, and horrible service........ went there last night and i have had horrible experience there was no manager there.....i went there with a party of 5, nobody was there and the waitress was acting like there was a room full of people. my 6 year old son was with us he really enjoys the california rolls, so i ordered him his california roll and our food had not came yet, our food finally got there and my 6 year old son reached up and grabbed one of my sushi rolls "i'am not going to yank a sushi rolls out of his hand"...the waitress came up to me and said i'am charging you extra your not suppose to share.... she basically charged me 10.95 for 1 piece of sushi.....i couldn't believe it.... it was my cousin first time going to eat sushi and she was forced to get all you can eat.... my cousin ask for a water she rolled her eyes....i never experience service like this now if you like all you can eat sushi go to sho-guns they are friendly and there food is pretty darn good for all you can eat.........

Hibiki is a strange and unique place. It has a very large dining room and a large patio perched on a hill with an excellent view. Unlike most sushi restaurants, the sushi chefs are silent during the meal as well as when you enter or leave the establishment. I haven't had bad service and I've been there at least 10 times but only once for dinner. To be fair, when Hibiki first opened they had all these AYCE rules (displayed at your table) which included paying regular price for uneaten sushi. THEY HAVE SINCE REMOVED THESE RULES. I'm generally finished before 1 hour because the service is quick. As with many AYCE sushi places the sushi quality is not consistent and is mostly poor. Don't get me wrong - their sushi rolls are pretty good but if you like nigiri you will be disappointed most of the time. Hibiki gets an extra star because they do what other AYCE sushi restaurants won't do - they have an extensive AYCE menu. You could load up on the appetizers and salads and be more than happy. How many AYCE sushi places offer spicy tuna salads, tako salads, salmon skin salads, fried oysters, jalapenos stuffed with spicy tuna and deep fried ...and more? You can even order yellowtail collar. All for $19.95. Ask them for a 10% off card when you pay and they will give you one. So a normally 2-star goes to a 3-star due to price and menu choices. I would recommend Hibiki without making any promises so one can judge for themselves.

May 29, 2015 Dinner We love going here and sitting at the Sushi Bar. Their new menu is so good and the variety is amazing. We are here practically every Friday night and try to sit at the bar where Sushi Chef Luis is stationed. We always buy the Chefs a round of sake or a pitcher of beer. What a nice crew! The sushi is so good and the staff makes us feel so comfortable. You are definitely among friends when you come here!

AYCE has a reasonable price and a large menu for it. Despite being ayce, the rolls are well put together, taste fresh, definitely an invitation to try new rolls. Service is good. Went during lunch time. There wasn't a lot of people.

  • Kittie D.

Their food is gross. They got my order wrong as well. The California rolls had way too much sauce (mayonnaise mix?) and I got about 6 pieces of nigiri that tasted like rubber. This included tuna, salmon, and halibut. I was cringing while eating it, hoping it would get better. The only thing I enjoyed was the tako sald and, of course, I found a hair in there near the end. Never again.

Service and food was completely disappointing. Baked salmon roll was not baked. Garli edamamme was hard. Avocado in salad was brown. Overall tasted nasty. When I called to express my dissatisfaction I was told a manager would call me back with a resolution within 4-5 hours. 6 hours passes with me not getting a call back so w I decided to call back. I then spoke with a so called manager who said there was nothing they could do. I will never eat there again

Tisk, tisk, tisk. Excellent service is imperative for any business to thrive. Hibiki failed to recognize this. Tayler, our waitress, was condescending and had a snappy attitude. Right away, I was not happy to be there, but still remained to give Hibiki a try. The good: - Large all you can eat variety. - All you can eat prices are affordable and kids 3 and under are free. All you can eat prices are in one of the pictures I took. - Monkey brain was delicious with a good balance of spicy and sweet. - Udon soup was good. - Cucumber salad was good. - Mango roll was delicious. The bad: - Some of the worst and unfriendly service I've ever received in Santa Clarita. Tayler can be thanked for this one. - Typically, when you go to a sushi bar they bring you ginger and wasabi. Here, I had to ask for it. - From A to D quality, Hibiki's fish was a C+ quality grade. Not the worst, but certainly far from the best. Salmon had a slightly sour after taste. We ordered the salmon lovers roll and had to send it back because of this issue. - Albacore typically comes with ponzu sauce but not here. Very dry. - Slow food delivery for an all you can eat with a 90 minute time limit. - Had to remind them to bring a sauce we ordered. - Lobster roll was very oily and the cut onion was over powering. - Decor is very out dated. They have Christmas decorations up in September. Overall, I could deal with the mediocre food, but the terrible service from Tayler was a major deal breaker. If a business wants to be held in high regard they need to hire staff that represents the owners/management's vision of being successful. Examples like Tayler show that any business is prone to failure if Management does not have the skills to hire and retain the right folks.

Ok got to share my experience. The service was ok but by the time I got my water I was asked and suggested to order the ayce option. I gave in to peer pressure and did so. My pre made roll was interesting. The rolls were premade and the rock shrimp was too. it was an edible roll but the rice was beyond plenty. I was reminded twice that there is a charge for left over food. The sushi was simple and were rice balls. I ended up tapping out since I wanted to avoid the unnecessary carbs. I have to say if you like variety then you can come here with the warm and sushi choices. For what I paid I'd rather go to mr sushi, lite and healthy, or bonsai for ayce...Again I prefer more fish over rice bombs... For 23 bucks I guess I can't complain. But mr hibiki try to save some rice pls... I will have to get my fish cravings fixed tomorrow...

Hibiki is the spot you bring some folks who dont know what good sushi tastes like. Especially if your'e buying, (you will be the man)..Lol With that being said, Its pretty good considering. I prefer Shoguns on Seco for all you can eat however you better eat a snack first cause it takes forever at Shoguns.

They have really improved this place to a 5 star rating. Just order what you can eat and you'll be fine. Their whole menu is pretty much available with AYCE, so you'll not leave hungry. Favorites are Uni, Salmon Roe, cucumber heaven, snow roll & sour patch roll. Forget the haters, try it, I eat a lot of sushi and this place is right up there with the best, you just have to order right!

Definitely a great sushi bar. The menu for the AYCE is splendid, the time limit is very reasonable and what I liked the most was that their rolls weren't fat with rice like Mr Sushi and Bonsai... Portions were just right. Will definitely be coming back. UPDATE Went back today for the lunch hour and I gotta say it was fantastic. Portions are great and their menu is huge! tried a few other rolls than last time and I was impressed, not too much rice, fresh fish, service is alright, sushi chef was fast and made great rolls... If anything I only wish they had more rolls :p UPDATE #2 Today's experience was the best one I've ever had, I was literally there for 3 hrs just chilling and I was never bothered or rushed to leave (big plus) also I had a wonderful server, she kept offering me beer which was something most don't do plus she had a great attitude :) My sushi chef was great as well, he kept offering items and as soon as I was done with a roll he would ask what was next, he was attentive so my hat off to Hibiki for getting me to come back every week :)

AYCE is definitely great. I avoid the dinner crowd and do lunch. Especially with what I can pack in, it takes 7 hours to begin digesting so I have to do early. Great that they extended lunch until 4pm and the new menu items are great. Their coupon policy is great but beware the MISSING fine print. When I used the usual 15%off on lunch the bill had 0.00 discount. When I asked the server, she said "oh that doesn't apply to the bento boxes". hmmmm Coupon no say nothing about exception other than print. Honor your Advertisements or update the fine print Folks! All and all... .will return.

Hibiki is one of the best sushi bars I ever tried, 99% of the sushi rolls made better than your expectation, they getting busy day after day during dinner time, so I recommend lunch time as AYCE is little cheaper too. Once or twice they forgot to bring some of the rolls we order (we usually goes in groups) but they brought it as soon as we remind them, I never faced any problem with service as listed in other reviews ;) I recommend the Amber and Sean rolls, those are the best ever. Dynamite is ok if you don't want to order anything else. Heart attach is awesome for those who likes spicy appetizers. Don't forget to get the 15% coupons, must be printed.

This is my favorite sushi spot. I drive from the San Fernando Valley just to go to Hibiki. The Angie Roll is the bomb.com . The waiters are really nice and conscientious. I'll keep going to Hibiki as long as they are open. If you haven't been to Hibiki yet and you LOVE sushi, GO!!!

Great sushi, good lunch deals. They also send coupons via email if you sign up. We typically will order several special rolls and share them so we can try different items. Favorite items are the spicy tuna tempura, albacore special roll (with roasted garlic) and firefighter roll. They also have a nice kids meal that my granddaughter (she's 7) loves. Service is great, staff is friendly and quick.

I'm sad to say it but I may not frequent here as much as I used to. I used to love coming for the variety and service. Was always a great place to have a few drinks and stuff your face with decent sushi for low dollar. I recently went for a "date night" and it was hotter then outside inside. The water wasn't even cold because they didn't put enough ice. We ordered our plethora of sushi snacks and just were not pleased...the sushi came out messy looking like it was rushed to make, the rolls were falling apart from the inside and the sashimi was warm to the point that I was scared I got food poisoning. I usually love the up beat personalities of the old school waitress/waiters there, but they hired a lot of newbies that I frequently wittiness chatting with friends while working and favoring those tables over other customers. I mean I get saying hi to your friends but be professional. I also see a lot of negativity from the waitress/waiters when asked about a plate. I know it's jokingly and I as a customer might look relaxed enough to laugh something like that off, but that is unprofessional for business. I am sad that I have to vier away from one of my favorite cheap sushi fix places because generally speaking before the changes it was a lovely place to go to.

Hibiki has really turned the corner and come out on top. The new food items have been a pleasure to eat. The presentation doesn't seem rushed or hurried. Proper portions for an AYCE which gives ability to try new items. Also, seems they have new plates, serving platters, etc. Who ever picked these out, nice choice. Now, this place can never attain a five star, but it's not suppose to. After all, this is an AYCE joint. With that being said, I believe the food goes way beyond what one should expect from an AYCE. Service seems on point. One note. Gentleman waiter with the beard....Exceptional service Sir.

Best Sushi!!!! First time here and I can't wait to come back! Best sushi in SCV aaaaannnnnd.... it's an AYCE (All you can eat)! $19.99 per person from 11:30am - 2:30pm (price and hours are subject to change),sushi made to order so everything is fresh! The service is awesome, great staff, great sushi chef & great happy hour if you don't wanna do AYCE. I've been missing out, so happy to have finally come here!!!! Yay for me!!!! Not the best sushi, but also its not bad. They take a long time I'm guessing so you can order more stuff. Very generic sushi rolls but honestly best in Santa Clarita. All you can eat deal which is pretty cool. Would've got 4 stars but my time is worth money and that's why it got two.

Honestly, this is by far the best sushi bar in scv. Their all you can eat buffet is a pretty good deal. The servers are excellent and friendly. They stop by very often to help you with something. My favorite rolls are "baked salmon, and caterpillar"

All u can eat menu is huge. Almost there entire menu is on the all u can eat. Their rolls are very good and very filling. Love the appetizers. Have always had great service their and the prices are very fair. They never rush you or try to force you out. Have had limited sushi there as there rolls usually fill us up.

My boyfriend and I are regulars here at Hibiki. We were trying to find a sushi place to go to regularly since Akasaka in Canyon Country changed ownerships and completely changed their menu (I'm still sad). We decided to try Hibiki a couple of months ago because we had a coupon for 15% off. Why not right? We were surprised when we walked in because it was such a huge place with nice deco. The service could be a lot better if they trained their waitresses on how to treat customers because they weren't helpful and looked like they weren't happy to be there at all. Food takes a bit to come but when it does, it is delicious! My love gets the Volcano Roll and always orders baked mussels with it. But for some reason our appetizer comes after our rolls come out. I am in live with the XXX roll.. so creamy and filling. Definately a hidden gem in SCV. Just dont expect good customer service.

This place has improved tremendously! I used to come with a group of friends cause it was all you can eat. I never really liked it. This past year the owner changed everything around. And know we can't get enough. The sushi taste so much better and the service is great. I really appreciate how the waiters help each other. I give this place props for not giving up and improving. Keep up the good work and stay positive.

  • Scott R.

I can see why some people would give them a 2 or 3 star rating and I think it may have to do with the service they give on a crowded night. My wife and I love going here. The food is great. I will give them a 4 out of 5 because every now and then we end up going on a night that is a little more crowded than normal and the service starts to go a little down hill. They will start getting orders wrong or even sent to the wrong table, they start taking a little longer than normal, your waiter gets kidnapped by space aliens, etc.... you know. The usual. If you go on a night without a crowd, you are sure to have great food and good service. If you go on a night with a big crowd, you are probably going to have great food and okay service!

STOP EATING HERE!!!!!!!!!! I have a friend who works here and she said that NO ONE washes their hands or wears gloves AND they don't Ever wash the utensils!!!! They only rinse them!!! That's disgusting!!!!!!!! This place should be shut down!!! So unsanitary!!

  • Mike M.

Yo, seriously? Don't know why this place has a low rating as it does because this place is GREAT! Sorry they don't hold your hand to your seat and lay your napkin on your lap for you, but for a $20 AYCE sushi spot, what more do you expect? The service matches their demand, slow when its busy, great when they're slow. I have friends all over So Cal and we always agree to meet here for dinner/drinks to catch up. This place has a fun/casual atmosphere for a Sushi spot which I think is cause of the low rating as its not meant to be a high end champagne and sushi place. It's GREAT sushi for the price and their selection is very extensive to make casual sushi eaters happy! Oh and their AYCE menu includes dinner boxes so you can eat a chicken/steak bento box with Goya and tempura and STILL save $$$ than if you ordered it on its own. Guess low priced sushi and beer doesn't make the stuck up SCV kids spending their parents $$$ happy enough to give this place a higher rating than it deserves. Guess they prefer spending that money on snap backs and skinny jeans...

First experience was awesome, I ordered for a pick-up, the sushi and the rolls were soooo delish. Second time I ordered for a pick-up, horrible sushi and rolls! I don't know what happened!? Different chef?! Who knows... third time I ordered, sushi and rolls were okay... To sum up, this place is not consistent. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. Good luck ^_~

I always come here! But I went in the other day and had only two rolls, and let me tell you they were horrible! My crunch tempura was ice cold, and didn't have the sauce on it. And my rainbow roll tasted "blah" with no flavor and the fish didn't even taste right. It was a huge disappointment. I couldn't even finish my rolls. But I will give the service an A+ the new girls there are fantastic!

The service sucks! The food is a little above average. Now my story to support what I have stated. Went there a couple of months ago with my coworkers and had the AYCE. We had a couple of items (six individual cuts not rolls) leftover and did not want to see it go to waste. We were stuffed. We asked politely if there was a chance to take those items for the road. Now it gets good.... The one male server was picking up some items at our table while the older male server was busting the other table next to us. When we asked to take the remaining six, we got silence. The younger server looked over to the older server that responded with a dissatisfying grunt. The younger server then told us, "Maybe you should not order so much next time." REALLY!!! Yes, I know there is a policy written and it is not acceptable to order so much to act like a savage. This was not the case. We were not drunk, disorderly, acting like a bunch of buffoons, nor were we rude. We had lunch, conversation and were deciding how much of a gracious tip we would leave for our server. Well, you two birds ruined that tip we were going to leave. You also have given us a reason not to return or refer to your establishment being hospitable. You clowns lack customer relations in the worst way and need a lesson in dealing with the public. I hope the owner or manager reviews these comments and takes appropriate actions. If I had a choice in the matter as to your reassignment of duties, you would be placed outside handing out fliers. It is just unfortunate that the lady who seated us and took our order along with the Sushi Chefs behind the counter have to be placed under this complaint. You folks were exceptional in your service and we were very grateful for it. Maybe you guys can catch the two birds and kick them in the butt!

The food is average. I may even stretch and say that it's good. But the service is TERRIBLE and the food takes quite a bit. I have a lot of patience as I was a bartender for five years. But, this place really pushes the border between inconvenient and unacceptable.

Don't waste your money here. Worst food ever! Go to O' Sushi if want quality good food. I made a huge mistake listening to my neighbor. The hot dishes came cold and cold dishes came warm. Service was really good.

Terrible service. Waiters were extremely neglectful. We never got three of our dishes despite asking for them several times and the check never came so we had to go up front to pay. I was very tempted to get up and just leave without paying. We ordered all you can eat, but we never got past or even finished the first round. It was a very unsatisfactory experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Needless to say I'm never coming back.

3rd time is NOT a charm. I order off the menu and family gets the all you can get. I can never get the complete order at once. The service has always been bad. Yesterday took the cake. We walked in and the girl at the hostess counter promptly snaps I'm not on the clock (so go in the back then) lucky for us she ended up being our server 15 minutes after the person on the clock kept giving us a small table for a larger party.Sushi came out slowly. Getting wasabi is a joke doesnt that usually come out with out begging 5 minutes for it. 35 minutes after the first round of sushi was done she comes to tell us that there are 2 servers and the kitchen printer is down and the kids meals and other kitchen orders haven't been made. 25 minutes later and being told at least 10 more times there are only 2 servers and those 2 servers had plenty of time to stand at the computer to chat. We finally got the meals. NOT completely never got my rice had to ask for my soup. Forget drink refills. The food is all right but the service is AWFUL!!! 1 time I understand. But it appears they need some help!!!!! And let's talk about the most disgusting smelly bathroom. They had glade plug ins and candles all over. Lite candles mind you in the floor that's safe!!!!!

Came here for my birthday so we were a large group of 9. We all sort of showed up at different times and it wasn't packed so it didn't seem to affect the service too much. All but one person had the all you cant eat. It was my first time here. Our server was very approachable with questions and funny. The food for the most part was very yummy. The only big drawback was that their version of the baked salmon roll is different from the one we're used to having and it had some root in it and was basically falling apart and being held somewhat together by foil. It was a sad way to end the all you can eat. An d kind of a big deal because it's one of my favorites. They had a fun light show and free yummmmmmy desert for my bday. Their restroom that day was terrible. You could smell poo just walking by...on your way out the restaurant. One of my friends went in...and told me to just hold it or brace myself. I held it. I'm npt sire if I would go back. I liked that their AYCE has a wide selection. But if they don't have the few that I really love....what's the point?

My husband and I love this place. We are not experts on sushi but we love the flavor of their Sushi. $23 per person it's worth it since my husband eats a lot, we normally ordered 10 to 15 different sushi plates. Plus the beer refill it's great for my husband.

All You Can Eat Sushi is the best!! Lots of variety. The service is a tad bit slow and some of the waiters/waitresses are kind of rude. Another thing that annoys me is when it's someone's birthday and they play an annoying song and flicker the lights on and off really quickly. Some people like it, but that ruined my anniversary dinner with my fiance because they did that whole process about five times in a row when we went there. Try going on week days because there are less people, which means faster service! All the food is delicious!!

I was at the library debating between Burgers from Everest, Breakfast at Ihop, or Pizza from Domino's when I suddenly remembered this place was here. I had always seen it up on top of the hill, but never even knew how to get up there. After some exploration, I discovered an ivy covered stairway that lead up to the place from the lower parking lot below. I climbed the stairs and entered the building, and was greeted right away and escorted to a table. The menu had "AYCE" printed all over it, and I inquired to the waitress. She informed me that they had an All You Can Eat option. For $20, you could eat sushi for ninety minutes. You could eat as much as you could fit in your belly. Leftovers might be charged, and there was no packing up to go boxes. So, having heard the rules, and feeling I had a firm grasp on them, I ordered the all you can eat sushi meal. She handed me a sheet and a pen to fill it out with. I checked off Fried Oysters, Teryaki Chicken and the Hikibi Special Roll. I sat and waited for a bit drinking my tasty iced tea, the waitress came by and took my sheet. Upon reading it she informed me that they were out of the oysters, and suggested calamari instead. I acquiesced to her request and she took off with the order sheet. Before too long a plate with four calamari rings was placed in front of me. Then, I thought it was a small amount, now I am thankful for the fact that it was a small amount. I ate them fairly quickly. They were okay. The BBQ sauce they came with was good. Before I had finished them my Teryaki Chicken arrived. That was also a somewhat small serving. But enough. Thirdly my Hibiki special roll arrived. It was sushi wrapped in sushi. It was a massive roll that I had difficulty picking up with the chopsticks, and difficulty putting in my mouth. I almost switched to the fork and knife to cut and eat it that way. I was on a roll, and ready for another order. I was also feeling like I could eat anything placed before me. I ordered a Vegas Roll, a Lobster Roll, and a Volcano Roll. Based upon the descriptions, they all sounded delicious. They arrived together, and they looked wonderful. I lined them up and began working on the Vegas Roll. The over-sized sushi-in-sushi was sauced and tasty. I moved onto the Lobster roll and tried that. That was also delicious. I managed to finish both of those, and was slowing down considerably by the time I hit the third and final plate of sushi. I took a break to digest and work up some space for the third plate. I put my feet up on the bench on the other side of the booth, and I broke out my gameboy. I played a game or three of the Legend of Zelda (yes, the first one). After I had beaten the first dungeon, I felt that I could continue with the assault on the sushi plates. I managed to get down half the final plate before I felt anymore and I'd be seeing all of the sushi I had already eaten a second time. The waitress came by and I asked how much more I had to eat before not being charged, and she informed me that normally, you have to eat down to a half a piece of sushi before they don't charge you for leftovers. I frowned as I looked at my remaining half plate of sushi. She told me that since it was my first time, she'd let it slide this time. I thanked her, and she went to get my bill as I groaned from sushi overkill. I paid my bill (just about $30 with tax and tip) and staggered off in a sushi-fueled food coma. On a side note, drinks aren't included in the all you can eat, so it's $24.99 for the AYCE + an iced tea. Overall, the sushi was great, the service was great, the people were friendly and helpful. But I don't think I'll be doing AYCE sushi for a while. If I do, I'll certainly plan better. It's kinda pricey, but the AYCE feature is kinda neat. I'll probably be back, but not for a little bit. Good Job Hibiki.

READ MY REVIEW! I'm always skeptic about eating raw fish, but this place is pretty good. I went on a Sunday evening and the place was pretty much empty. As time went on it got full though. It's really annoying to read other people's reviews on YELP when the say things like, "worst sushi;" "wasn't fresh;" "it made me sick;" "I couldn't bare to put it in my mouth;" etc. Just because your dining experience wasn't of your liking doesn't mean you should go and bash some place on YELP, or on the internet. If you didn't like it, like their service, or you truly got sick, don't go back! It's not like there are hundreds of people walking out because the food made them ill. I mean they are in business and have a good health grade. I mean one of the reviews I read stated that the food Hibiki was using was "recalled." WTF does that even mean? How ignorant can someone get?! If the food was recalled, I'm pretty sure they would have to destroy it just like any recalled food, item and, or merchandise. That being said. Try them out! Food is excellent. Servers are friendly. Ambiance is lovely. They played great music. Rolls came out in a timely fashion. I don't drink, but the beer is only a penny after the first glass. EVERYDAY!!!! Ignore negative reviews and go see for yourself. People try and steer you away from anything just because they didn't enjoy their experience.

I will NEVER return here. Heard of the soup nazi .... She's here. Ordered AYCE. Vegetarian so asked if they can make fried roll with only avocado no crab/fish. "We have to charge you $2.00 extra each" because of the cost of avocados.......huh?... but yet I am able to get all the avocado rolls I care to eat. Then this moron (middle aged Pacific Islander type waitress) questions us eating daughters kids meal as she had already filled up on sashimi and miso. "We have to charge you more"....but she served a child's portion. Damn MORON. She later said she wasn't not going to up charge ...but too late my lunch zen was zeroed!

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've been coming to Hibiki for years, and it continues to be my favorite sushi restaurant. Hightlights: Fantastic tastes at an affordable price. Over 80 items on the $20 per person all-you-can-eat menu, and now the non-ayce items are discounted if you are ordering ayce. Great deals on alcohol too. If you go on Friday or Saturday night, expect a bit of a wait. Try the Angie Roll and the Gyoza!

Food wasn't impressive but ok overall for a cheap AYCE sushi bar. Unlike some other worse AYCE sushi bars, these guys didn't use much rice for sushi, which gave one star added! The real complaint I had was that the freakin' ignorant owner was constantly yelling at servers in Korean in front of customers. Apparently he wasn't happy with them, but it was very very annoying while I was eating. I won't go back there again.

I understand that most all you can eat restaurants don't have top quality food, but for about $20 per person, this is the best all you can eat sushi restaurant I've been to. It's better than Midori locations in the valley and its cheaper and their larger selection has more of a variety of items to to choose from other than sushi. Their fish is good and tastes fresh, their rolls are crafted very nicely and the presentation is beautiful and clean, all of their AYCE menu items are delicious. Sometimes your eyes are larger than your stomach and they may charge extra for items that are wasted and thrown away. Most times I came here, service was excellent and the servers were very welcoming to giving us another order menu for a second or even third round. Other times, they were a little slow but not much of an inconvenience. I really don't understand the horribly negative reviews of this restaurant. The food is great, fish is pretty fresh, the price is awesome for what they offer and what you can eat, the interior is very nice and clean, large enough to have large groups, the service is good. This place is no Katsu-ya or Asanebo, but for what this restaurant is designed for, it's as good as it gets for an AYCE sushi restaurant.

Everyone, Hibiki updated their menu and staff and now no matter what time you come in the service is great! Food comes out right away, all at once and there is always someone checking on you. Please try this place again before reviewing! And no I don't work there.

It's hit or miss here. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes not so good. Been here 4 times over the last 2 years and it's okay. The sushi is good we love the snow roll, spicy tuna tempura roll, lobster roll and agedashi tofu. They increased the dinner prices from $19.99 to $22.95 now so be aware. Just found that out today when we went there for a late lunch.

This place had good quality sushi but our waiter sucked. He was to busy checking up in what looked like a party of Japanese Mafia guys. I would try this place again maybe just not on a weekend!!. They did have a roll called a Monkey Brain with a mushroom in it that I would recommend everyone who likes mushrooms to try. Food was good service sucked.

The best All-you-can eat sushi!! Rainbow roll is visually pretty and delicious. Tako salad is excellent: octopus, seaweed, and cucumber. Sean's roll is soo good. Shrimp tempura is always good. Salmon sushi pieces are great, buttery and fresh.

I'll give this place a solid three for three reasons: 1. The rolls are alright, nothing to write home about, but they're good. 2. $20 All-You-Can-Eat sushi for an hour and a half, can't complain there. 3. As far as waiting for and getting all of your order goes, this place can do a lot better. Generally, I go here on evenings and afternoons on the weekend, which tends to be relatively busy at your average restaurant and this is sometimes true here. That said, I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table. The staff are generally polite, except for one server who acts like he only works there because he has to, and its a total put out for him to do anything for you. My only problem with this place, why it gets three stars instead of four or five, is the waiting for food. I've been there times when all of our food has come except for one role or one dish and they "lose it" somewhere between the paper I check off and the kitchen. Their attempt to explain each time ends with "oh well we just can't figure out what happened, do you still want it?" which is fine, I know this happens. However, with as many times as its happen to parties I've been in, I can't even give the benefit of the doubt anymore. Not to mention the one time when I was told "there's no reason to get upset" about my role being forgotten and waiting 45 min to find that out. Their service lacks, plain and simple. Besides that, the only thing super great about this place is the price. If given the option, I'd try another place with good service over cheap prices any day.

I definitely only go here for the all you can eat sushi. It's reasonably priced and there is a good selection of sushi, among other things. Most of their rolls are california roll based, but they have some tasty rolls. The lobster roll is one of our favorites - california roll with cooked lobster on the top and some kind of delicious sauce. The fish is pretty fresh and they offer great prices on drinks. The best thing about this place is that they let you do the AYCE at a table and order as many rolls as you want at a time.

Bad service ever. They acted like they wanted to kick you out from their restaurant . The food was horrible that I have ever had. It made me sick when I put in side my mouth. It me wanna throw up. All old ingredient ,old stuff, and all recalled food . Poor quality food, that after 2 hours we got home , we got diarrhea all night, thanks god we didn't die from food poison.

I love that this is all you can eat sushi!!! The sushi is amazing! This will remain my favorite sushi place. The only bad thing is that it takes FOREVER to get your check. Also, don't order another round. That takes forever too.

Me and my friends have been going here for awhile....the Ayce is awesome, 1 cent beer refills...they get 3 and 1/2 stars just for that...lol The food is good not great but good! I have never had bad service here. Whether it has just been 2 of us going or a party of 10. They have always done a good job with us.

If there was a way to put zero stars I would. I went tonight with a group of friends. We waited a while for the first order, then the second order took almost an hour (YES AN HOUR) to come out and it was only two orders of rolls. The owner apologized but did nothing and we finally told him to cancel but then they brought the order so we told him to make it to go....that didn't work at first, but I'm very big and not someone you would like to mess with so we got it to go. TWO HOURS total for sushi.....HERE....!!!!! I told the owner and the manager n the way out we are done and I am recommending that unless you have a lot of time to kill you don't even bother.

I'm not crazy about sushi, but some how, I landed here for a $20 all you can eat (AYCE). My first thought to that was a "hell yeah! I can try everything on the menu!!". It wasn't until a feast was set before me that I learned that you have to pay extra for what you don't finish. =( Someone should have warned the two of us as we ordered a Japanese feast for 5... (-) The service was terrible. We had to ask for things that should have been immediately provided. We didn't have simple things like plates, napkins, chopsticks, water, wasabi, ginger....etc. Seriously, we had to ask for each of these things multiple times. (-) My hot green tea came out tasting like dirty dishwater and smelling like ***. I didn't drink it, and ordered a beer instead, but was charged for both. What's good? There were a few tables of rowdy, fun-loving folks that kept it interesting. I think they had the 100-oz beer bomb, because they were getting hammered. Like I said, I'm not crazy about sushi, so all rolls pretty much taste the same. Thankfully, their rolls were much better than their tea. FOOD: - Seaweed salad: I'm glad it was the same as every other seaweed salad I've had. - Some kind of Udon Soup: it was alright, with lots of stuff going on in the cauldron. The only thing is that they said it was vegetarian and there was a massive shrimp tempura in there... (??) - 6 different rolls: yeah, they all pretty much tasted the same... - Mussels: These had a good sauce, but the mussels were the toughest I've ever encountered

I've been here two other times before and I was pretty satisfied. I was already pretty annoyed when we walked in because the host wouldn't let us sit at the bar with the restaurant being virtually empty. She only gave us the option to sit in a booth with sun which I don't understand since we could've had a table in the middle. We asked to be moved and that was granted so no problem with that afterwards. Anyways, I went today for their $19-something AYCE with my two other friends. I ordered two rolls and the rest was sushi. The rolls tasted great because they were all baked, but when it came down to the sushi, I was really unhappy. The rice was warm which made my albacore sushi extremely unappetizing -- I actually had to spit it out because the warmth was just unwelcoming. And when it came to all the sushi I received DID NOT TASTE FRESH AT ALL. They were cut extremely poorly and left a bad taste in my mouth. Everyone that works there was pretty nice so that's the reason why this place gets any stars at all. But seriously, sushi needs to be fresh and I was extremely dissatisfied. WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Service horrible, We went there today to celebrate son's 18th birthday. The food was good but service was horrible. The server told us right at the beginning he didn't want to be there. It was to be AVYE for 60minutes. After 30 minutes waiter told us that our time was up. I said no way we have only been there 30 minutes. He said the computer times tables. I showed him our movie tickets, there was no way we have been there for over a hour. He argued with me then said he would do one more order for our table. We will never go there again.

Good sushi, terrible terrible service. We came for a birthday: (3/16/14) 1) table was not set up by the time we came because we never told them what time, yet they did not bother to call and ask. 2) they were rudely incompetent servers. 3) served us spoiled potato salad and acted like it was fine. 4) when it was cake time, she came out with the cake in the box with the candles in her hand. Her reasoning: "I didn't know where to put the candles." It's a cake, who cares where you place it on the cake. 5) we went to complain to the manager/supervisor; however, according to our sever, there was no manager or supervisor throughout her shift. But when we paid, there apparently was a manager. Our waitress was clueless to what she was doing. Yes, I do recommend going there because of the SUSHI. On the other hand, you better be patient with these rude, incompetent people they mindlessly decided to hire.

The sushi tastes good, and no complaints there. But today it was the second time they had my order wrong. Another thing is whenever I do a to go order they always want to keep the change. It's just super weird. Do they like try to keep all the change and split it as a tip? If anyone knows what they do with it please message me.

So the food here is decent but service is terrible! the waiters confuse everything they take so long to come by the table even when they see you they are so moody when you ask them for stuff they stand on one side of the table and hand you everything so you can pass it along the table. its not impossible for one to pass the food along but isnt it their job? and on top of that they put gratitude ont he check 18%...the manager is such a sweetheart though. hes attentive but theres too manyt ables for him to be so attentive too at one time. not somewhere id go again specially with a big group. they take their very sweet time.

I originally had rated this place with 4 stars, but had to change it due to the past few times I visited. There is a young server named Taylor who is by far the sweetest server they have. She is always smiling and is very pleasant to speak with. The food quality has increased tremendously! I love it now and have referred many people here. I would highly recommend this place. Super yummy! =)

We have eaten here many times and find the sushi to be generally good, although not spectacular. As a resident of Santa Clarita for almost 30 years, we know and have dined at most restaurants and pretty much all of the sushi places, one of our favorite cuisines. My wife and I went here for dinner last night, I simply wanted one of their rolls and she looked forward to mixed tempura. We experienced one of the worst dining evenings ever. The place was packed because of their all-you-can-eat menus and we were informed that we had to wait rather than have a quick seat at the sushi bar, because the chef decides from time to time that he will not open the sushi bar. Okay, not the end of the world, and we were finally seated in a small booth. After our order, it seemed an interminable period before I received my simple roll. After waiting a long time, my wife insisted and I began eating as her tempura had not yet arrived. Finally, after at least 15 or 20 minutes, I motioned the waiter and asked him where her meal was. He had forgotten but came back and told us that one of the other waiters had accidentally taken her meal when it came up and that he would put another order in. We waited again for at least five or 10 minutes and then I had him come over and told him that we were going to go. I had long since finished my meal and my wife indicated that she no longer wanted to eat. The check came and, a bit to my surprise, they still wanted us, which we did, to pay for my small meal - rather than comp a small amount given the very poor experience we had had. At no point did anyone from the restaurant come to apologize. My wife was so upset, that we simply bought some soup and cooked it at home for her dinner. We will never frequent this restaurant again.

my old review gave four stars but now it is a two. this place is not like it used to be. the quality is going way down. the food is not fresh. ok price. if everyone at your table does not get all you can eat then be prepared to be watched veryyy well. the bathroom is always a mess and the bad smell pours out into the entrance way. after many times here we will not be back.

I have to say I was shocked to read some of the reviews here. Too be honest, I think Hibiki is one of the better restaurants in Canyon Country. Due to the limited variety of decent places to eat on this side of the valley, Hibiki is always our go to place! To address the long wait and service comments, I really have to laugh. I went again last night and we were greeted and sat right away. Our order was taken under the first 5 minutes and we literally had everything we ordered (about 4 rolls, tempura, and 2 apps) within 10 minutes!! The comments about waiting hours boggles my mind. I have NEVER waited that long for food there! Even when they have been busy. We were also checked on every 10-15 minutes while eating. Is it the best sushi I have ever eaten? No. However the specialty rolls are great and very tasty. The "all you can eat" is a great deal and I am always very full and happy when I'm done. To anyone who is a bit leery of going here based on past reviews, I recommend reading those 1-2 star reviews carefully. You can tell what kind of customer they really are, if you know what me. :)

  • Jonathan D.

This is my usual place and I drive from Burbank to come here. I don't understand the negative reviews. I've tried multiple sushi places across the country and this is one of the best. Hibiki has decent service and good food. Also, you can't beat the $20 all you can eat deal!

  • Kai W.

Sushi is great, especially the $20 all you can eat. Food is not super high end, but it's worth 4 stars considering what you do get for the price. My main complaint is being told it would be 25 minutes for a table and the wait was really an hour. However, this was on a weekend night at 7pm. One time I went during the day time on a weekend, and was seated immediately. Heads up: you must finish everything on your plate (if doing all y ou can eat) before you can order more.

Went to this place for the first time for my birthday, Around 9 they closed @ 10. Horrible service. The lady probably the manager or owner was extremely rude. She rushed us the whole time. Kept asking us if we were gonna get the all you can eat buffet before we even received a menu, she kept asking us cuz if we were she needed to know NOW. It was my first time, how was I supposed to know what I wanted to order before even seeing a menu. Beyond horrible service. Never coming here again. Besides the horrible service, i've had better sushi.

  • Curtis H.

Sushi is pretty average, but by no means bad. I give 4 stars because I think the AYCE set-up is pretty solid. They give you blank menus and you can write in as many things as you want. I suggest asking for as much as you think you can eat right away as the service is not excellent. Service gets better at the non peak times though, I would suggest going then.

We've been going to this sushi bar for a few years and have seen it go through different management. I have to say that the service has improved yet hasn't been outstanding. The service staff is always friendly and attentive, except for evenings (typically Friday and Saturday) when they get swamped. There is one waiter that knows us and kindly tells us what we already know we want, love that they remember us. and we only come about 2x a week for lunch. The AYCE is great, we've never been rushed or shunned for looking like we ordered the entire shipment of sushi for the day. Look, there's a reason why this place is packed on the weekends and it's because the price for AYCE is great! I really think that the only downfall of this place is that the service fails on busy evenings.

My husband LOVES sushi, so we decided to try this place after receiving a flyer in the mail. What a mistake that was!! The sushi was mediocre at best! I ordered one dish, thinking it was the crispy rice that you get at most sushi restaurant and instead I received an an edible mush on top of rice that was fried like a tator tot. I simply said I didn't care for the dish, and the server who was not my server, told my server, who then told a "manager" I guess and I sat at the table as they talked about me. The restaurant was empty so I could hear everything. Prior to this moment the two servers on duty were already standing by the computer talking, as if we couldn't hear them. I received my spare ribs order, which were the WORST spare ribs I've had. I didn't dare complain. My husband who had ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi ordered one roll that he didn't care for and when the server returned to see how everything was, he said he didn't like that roll and ordered a different kind. Before bringing the other order the "manager" comes over and says that she will have to charge us for that roll, even though it was all you can eat, because she had taken off the appetizer dish I didn't like. Just another point, the appetizer dish was also an option for one of the all you can eat items so easily could have been included anyway. I then asked this manager, if she was suggesting my husband had to eat something he didn't like just because they made it. I've been in the restaurant industry for MANY years and have had items sent back that my customers didn't like, it's never a problem for my management! If we were trying to get over, we would have complained about ALL the dishes that were not good! The manger brought the check and made it seem as if she was doing us a favor that she didn't charge us for the uneaten sushi roll! RIDICULOUS! The food is gross and the service is worst! Even with the coupon it's not worth your hard earned money!! Go to Kabuki, they have much better sushi and a great happy hour if you want a deal! Needless to say, we will NEVER return!

Fish was ok, service reasonable. However, the chicken teriyaki dish had a band-aid in it! Obviously took a lot out of the experience. I really should have taken a picture.... What was more appalling is that the manager wanted to reduce the price of the bill by 20% only! I about fell over. Only after some serious convincing by our server did they do the only reasonable thing and not charge us for the meal. I realize in the food business sometimes things happen, but this is one experience I hope is never repeated!

Honestly their sushi is very blah. Not much taste. And when we told the owner she just said maybe you're used to different sushi. I'm only giving an extra star because our waitress was nice.

This place is totally hit and miss. The list of cons definitely outweighs the pros. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. "/ Pros: $19.99 AYCE (best price I've found) Lots of menu options (80+) Great beer & sake specials Monkey Brain appetizer is delish! Cons: Poor service Uncleaned shrimp on several occasions Chefs aren't very sociable Every server is your server at some point (lack of attention) Sodas are $2 per can so be careful! Hot tea tastes like dishwater. They prefer not to seat at the 20 person sushi bar! Long wait times.

The average and negative reviews here confuse me...I've been to Hibiki maybe a dozen times and I have never had a negative experience. I always go for the All You Can Eat Sushi. The price is great, even if they recently raised their price from $20 to $23 -- still totally worth it.(coupons are often available for 15% off) They have a huge selection of appetizers, soup, rolls, sushi, sashimi, and cooked items. I love their spicy tuna salad (appetizer), the lucky 7 mix of sushi has salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail, shrimp, halibut, (although this may vary with season), I love the lobster roll, the scallop roll, Sean's roll. The rice to fish ratio is appropriate and their fish is always very fresh and beautifully arranged. I've always had good service. Some nights, if you get there after 7, it is really busy and service may be slower but if that bothers you, go early. I was there last night, a Friday, at about 5:30pm. Seating was immediate, service and attention was excellent. Sushi orders were delivered promptly. By the time I left at about 7 the place was completely full. For two people we had three appetizers, 5-6 rolls, about 24 pieces of sushi and a hand roll -- it was all delicious; and the bill was $50 with tip! How do you beat that?

ZERO STARS. I've been coming here since they've opened couple years ago. I come about once a week. I used to order all you can eat but I just can't eat that much anymore so my friend and I order a couple items and beer. This used to be the first sushi place I'd want to go to. BUT NOW.... I can say my boyfriend has gotten food poisoning two times. Last night, April 20 2012, my friend and I got there and it was busy. There were about three other groups waiting for a table. So, we decide sushi bar is good enough so we wouldn't have to wait for a table. The manager with the glasses, young Korean male who never smiles, said we would still have to wait. Mind you there was ONE person at the sushi bar, and all the tables occupied. I asked why and he said because "the other customers who arrived before us would get angry." I asked if they were waiting for seating at the sushi bar as well and he says no! This to make makes absolutely no sense. I've worked at 3 different sushi restaurants IN Santa Clarita. There are so many other sushi restaurants in the SCV that I will choose over this place. They also took off one of my favorite items the Cripsy Tuna Wonton Chip things. I asked why and the waiter told me "because we are using too much spicy tuna." I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS RESTAURANT. Servers are always changing and new. Most are not very friendly. The white young female is the only one who is consistent.

My sister and I wanted sushi so we went to Hibiki. It took a long time for them to bring my sushi rolls that I ordered to me. Both my sister and I got sick after eating there. We won't be going back to Hibiki again.

Been here so many times now since SUSHI is like ALL YOU CAN EAT for 19.99? Or 21.85 including tax! So my first impression again to this place, is nice, huge, big space, very restaurant like. The sushi bar is LONG! so good place to eat. There are some imperfection though. WAITERS sucks a**! Except this one dude, tall and nice! Checks up on us a lot. But to our main waitress... she old woman, she looks like it! Well she has an attitude, we ask her things and she just say something and just leaves while we still asking her.. I mean c'mon that is rude of her. When my friend ordered and ask for the noodle and stuff.... She literrary ignored her and just keep saying, order the "eat all you can," this is all i can complain about the waitress, maybe half of their staff are rude. The next thing is food, idk what others say that it isnt good. WELL im a sushi lover. I mean some of the fish are fresh some arent, but i always get SALMON, tuna, and white fish, for all you can eat. I like Eel also but it isnt part of their buffet thing. Otherwise i would get that instead. The fish are pretty decent, its big compare to the other places I been. I plan to come back here and bring my friends that like this! Because its worth it for 20 bucks!

Want the real scoop? Read on.... Wife and I have eaten here 2x... we have actually walked INTO the restaurant - and walked OUT after a 10 minute wait before any of the servers actually came to see who was 'new' and who was about to die of starvation just standing around... No kidding - we've been thee 6x now... we've been 'lucky' enough to not have to wait 2x. Ok - enough of the bad attitude. Do you prefer all you can eat - and have no clue what good sushi is? This is the place for you. Are you a sushi beginner? start here. But not at the sushi bar. Do you think Sushi and rice is a 90/10 mix? 90% rice and 10% sushi? This place is your spot for sure... even if you hate fish - you might like the sushi here...! wafer thin slices of sushi save ownership money - and give you the impression you're actually eating sushi! win/win, right? Do you really like all you can drink beer? this is the place for you as well - $6 gets you all you can drink when you get the $20 all you can eat. Try sitting at the sushi bar... I dare you... 6x in... we've managed to somehow get there once... even with other patrons at the sushi bar... we've been told its closed... even after physically pointing to the other human beings sitting there... "its closed". Ok great... walk out. So - will I return..? you betcha! There are times when I can drink more than $26 worth of beer.... toss the rice cakes- bring on the beer!

So I've been back and forth about Hibiki, I like it, I don't, I like it....so I guess I right there in the middle. Its known as one of the cheaper all you can eat sushi stops in Santa Clarita. At least for 20 bucks, you can get more than just sushi. The sushi is pretty generic. There's nothing you haven't seen already. Since its all you can eat, I recommend just getting their specialty rolls or hand rolls. They have a little more "character" than the others. They also have udon, ramen and other noodles. Go ahead and skip the ramen, pretty much Cup O' Noodles without having to make it. The udon isn't bad. If I'm coming on a nippy day, I go for the udon. The servers are nice and Hibiki also serves alcohol if you're in the mood. Not the greatest, but I'll still go with you!

When here today. The food was as usual. Good for the price. But they refused to take a printed coupon I got from Double Take Offers. They now only take coupons from magazines??? The womens bathroom smelled like a sewer before you even opened the door. It was SO bad I couldn't even go in.

Too bad there are no negative stars. Lucky me got to experience the awful reviews everyone else talked about and sadly I brought along a group to do it with. The manager seated us and walked away, leaving us with no menus. Waiters came and went around us. 15 minutes later the manager came over and pointed out who our waiter "would be". After 25 minutes we asked the manager for menus at least. The first time we saw our actual waiter was when he came to drop off our "order"...he hadn't even taken it yet, it was another tables food. We all ordered the "all you can eat" and ordered my five year old nephew the kids teriyaki chicken. The waiter said "the kids menu is not available at night". We asked him for a kids dinner menu then...he said he could only order the adult menu. He is five!! And who cares what time it is if you are still making the exact same food!? We asked for the manager and explained to her that we just wanted to order him the kids chicken teriyaki and the rest of us wanted "all you can eat". She says "its not the RULES". (those infamous rules all previous reviews mention apparently) My sister said "I'll just order chicken teriyaki with my all you can eat and he can have a few bites". The manager says "you can't do that. We charge you another adult all you can eat if he has any." I ask "are you kidding me, he is five and eats like two bites." Her response? "Okay, he can have only two bites then". Like she is going to stand there and watch? We then tell her if they refuse to serve a child off a child menu and he can't have any of ours we will take our business elsewhere and change my online review - which she shrugs to. We all got up and left. As a business owner I'm appaled that a manager would let a tab of over $100 get up and walk instead of serving an item on a kids meal. We didn't ask for free food for him, we asked to order off a menu they have in place and pay the asking price. Who cares if it is dinner time, do kids not get dinner? If this place cheap? Yes. Is it worth such a miserable dining experience when there are so many other sushi places within a ten mile radius? Absolutely not. The manager made it very clear she could care less about her customers or customer feedback so I think everyone should take their hard earned money to establishments that do value their patrons!

Very, very POOR customer service!!! We walked in, a party of 6, 2 of which were children under the age of 11. We asked for sushi bar and they tried to guid us to the dining room, we insists the on the sushi bar and they FLATOUT REFUSED US!!!!!! I said why, they said because the children would be more comfortable in a booth! We said no we want the sushi bar and she kept say"No, so sorry!!!!" I asked for management but my husband was so pissed off he just grabbed my arm and we left!!! We had been there many times in the past, but gradually the service and food went severely down hill!!! That particular night we decided to give them another chance, after 9 months or so, Boy was that the HUGEST mistake ever!!!! Take your money and RUN!!!!!

Here is what to expect from Hibiki: a casual sushi spot with great prices on alcohol, and a price that can't be beat for all you can eat sushi. Their prices on individual rolls are average, but not as expensive as a high end spot like Yamashiro. The fish is fresh, as are their vegetarian rolls, and the soup was good. Their plum ice cream is also worth writing home about. A friend said their food that wasn't sushi wasn't anything special. Since I eat sushi I would not go to a sushi place looking to eat Japanese food other than sushi so it wasn't a big deal for me. The view is nice, the parking lot and building is tucked away off Soledad and Shangri La, so it's quieter and not as congested. The waitstaff has been friendly and attentive both times I've gone, and I should add I'm bringing very young children and who can present a challenge. Though it can slow down when they are very busy so I can see it being slow if you're in a large group. But considering they are not a huge place this is to be expected. There are only so many sushi chefs availible to make the rolls. The rules about the AYCE make sense. If you come to a sushi place and have the gall to want to pick the rice off a roll stop being cheap and order sashimi. However if you have a big appetite or love getting your money's worth and actually enjoy eating the whole roll the way it was meant to be consumed, then you'll get a kick out of this place. In short it's good food a nice but casual atmosphere that's family friendly but not Chuck E Cheese, and would also make a nice spot for a casual date.

This place disgusted me. I have never had a worst experience in a restaurant then i did at this restaurant. The waiter was so crazy because it was close to closing time that when the waitress came up to give us our bill he yelled at her told her that he would get it and ripped the bill out of her hand and put it above his head like an immature little 5year old would. I was about to get up, and tell him not to talk like that to a women. This place has crap service. not only did they take forever to bring the food out which we paid all you can eat for so the bill was over $150.. But they were upset because the last call we ordered more food. They talked about us and watched us like we were little kids making sure we would eat it all. The most awkward thing ever. I don't know how they stay open with so many better places then this. I will never be back and the 10 people that I was with will never be back. All they did was stack the sushi with so much rice then they did the first round and they wanted us to be full and pay for the extra we did not eat. But we showed them because we ate all that came to the table. This place is so unprofessional. I don't know how they stay open and they need to be closed down. If you go to this place you support men who beat women. -5 Stars

Went here a handful of times, servers are slow. 1 time I was fed up with waiting for a waiter/server, I went to the hostess to ask for a drink. The past two times I've gone there the rolls were so poorly made they would fall apart after you pick them up with the chop sticks. Save your money and stay away from this place, the only good thing going for it is the all you can eat. Service is bad, visually the place looks nice but I will not eat there again.

I don't understand how this place could have an average of 3.5 stars. It's my favorite in this vicinity and there are a few. Even if it wasn't all you can eat I would still prefer it. The service is slow sometimes but unfortunately you can't put half stars on the rater.

For $19.99, this is pretty much the best AYCE sushi you can get. Pros: There's so many rolls to choose from. There's even plenty of dishes for the non-seafood lovers (vegetable tempura, chicken wings, avocado roll, etc.). And this is probably the cheapest AYCE joint you can find. Cons: Not the finest quality of fish. Service is on-and-off. Sometimes it's great but then other times, it can be really bad, especially if you come in a big group. Beware of the skinny Korean guy with glasses. I don't know if he's new but he's so fragile. He literally shakes as he's carrying dishes and he delivers the wrong food! And one time, he was bringing my udon to my table and he tells me that the spoon dropped into the soup and leaves. Where's my new spoon? So like I said, this place is cheap but if you want quality sushi, there are better places for AYCE for $25.95. The place I usually go to is Midori in the valley, which I HIGHLY recommend.

ALL YOU CAN EAT Sushi is pretty good for $20. A big plus is the beer. You can buy the first one for $6 and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and as much as you can go...is only 1cent more. I think they want you to drink alot so you wont eat as much. So, the price and drinks are a big plus. The Food and Sushi..It's actually not bad for AYCE. Everything we've tried is fresh and it's not only sushi thats on the menu. They have salads, soups, beef, chicken and pork too. They have the pork belly on a stick..(its really good, the only problem it comes one at a time) So make sure you order a few. Why only 4 out the 5 stars.....For BIG groups(Anything over 6) expect to wait on the weekends. Especially on Saturdays..on my sisters bday we had to wait 2 hours..yes, 2 OWErs!!!....It sucked, but well worth it once we got in.

Went here for the All You Can Eat Sushi for $20 and have came back a few times. The food quality is good. It's of course not the greatest sushi, but for the price for all you can eat specialty rolls and other dishes, it's pretty great. The fish has always been fresh along with the rest of their food. The presentation for their rolls is nice, looks and tastes like any other sushi restaurant like Kabuki or similar where you'll spend more on two specialty rolls than your entire feast at Hibiki. Hot Night Roll is great, along with the Baked Lobster, Sunshine and Angie rolls. I also enjoy how they have alot of other variety and dishes besides sushi that is on their All You Can Eat section such as tempura vegetables, edemame, miso soup, cucumber salad and tons more options. I guess we have been pretty lucky service wise. Once we did get a host that didn't frequent our table after ordering our first round, so I just dropped off our order paper at the bar and took care of our slow waiter problem. Though our other servers have been great and happy to give us a second menu and even asked us if we wanted a third. The restaurant itself has a good ambiance. It's very large and spacious inside with large booth seating and tables in the middle. They do have a patio that is open for the warmer months. Mondern and very clean. They even have a cool baby grand piano there for some night entertainment as well.

I love this place! AYCE sushi for $20!? Yes please! The service is not as bad as most reviewers claim and the food it not bad at all. I go there all the time with a group of friends and we are always pleased with our rolls and sushi. If people complain that they have to eat everything on their plate...then dont order so much. The restaurant doesn't want their food to go to waste. Otherwise the prices have to go up...common sense.

If I could I'd give it a zero rating. I highly discourage any one from eating here. The sushi is hands down the worst in the valley. I went here for lunch the other day and was very close to refusing to pay. The albacore I ordered we entirely rice, with the smallest cut of fish on top I have ever seen at a sushi joint. We ordered several other rolls that were so awful, I couldn't finish me them. The waiter then proceeds to have the balls to want to charge us extra for the uneaten sushi. This resuraunt is absolute crap.

Amazing sushi place! I don't know why so many people left bad reviews.... but I've ALWAYS had a pleasant experience. I mostly go there for the AYCE for $20. So cheap and there are like 50+ items on the menu! Not even buffets have that many yummy items. All the people who complain that drinks and desert are not included in the AYCE: restaurants make a lot of money off sodas and drinks. it's not just this restaurant! Go to any sushi place and they will do the same, and for a crapload of food for $20, you're going to complain about that?? Give me a break! Also, if you have a big group of people, and you don't finish a few pieces of sushi, they're not going to charge you for the left overs. Of course they will and should charge for those people who ate 2 out of 10 pieces of their roll! Why should they throw away an 8 dollar roll? Otherwise they will waste food or raise the prices for AYCE. So don't complain and don't order more than you can eat. It's called using your brain. Yes, there is a 90 minute limit for order for the AYCE. Otherwise people will eat all day for $20! You're paying $20, and you're complaining that you can't eat for 5 hours! please!! Disregard all these dumb complaints! I've never had bad service... sometimes it's a little slow, but it's because they're busy or someone is on their lunch break. I've NEVER had a negative experience. I LOVE this place and I come back often! Highly recommended!

I am by no means a sushi person, but I love coming to Hibiki. I probably go there once a month and I live about 30 miles away. I love their lobster roll and baked salmon roll. Their tempura is great too, super crispy. If you're a sushi snob this probably isn't the place for you. But if you want tasty sushi at an affordable price give them a try. We always get the all you can eat special $20, and definitely get our money's worth.

  • Sandra P.

Ok so I came here with a friend cuz he was like Hey lets check out this place thats $20 AYCE sushi. Sounds good right? Well you know what they say. you get what you pay for, which in this case was sushi which tased more like cardboard with a paper thin slice of fish on top. It was kinda gross, the best thing there was probably their green tea. Do yourself a favor go to Kabuki instead and if you are on a budget, go during happy hour, they have awesome happy hour speacials and it tastes 10x better than this dump!

I went here to Hibiki yesterday with a dear friend and neighbor who likes this place. Originally, my dad said he did not think so much about this place, bur my neighbor always takes his family here. So coming in, my impression was neutral. We had the lunch AYCE. Miso soup was served with a spoon, no big deal, just different. Then the hand rolls. Hai! Salmon skin, salmon, freshwater eel, yellowtail...all were fresh and tasty. To cleanse the palate after each hand roll I had some ginger. Nigiri sushi were also of the same fresh taste. We did not order cut rolls. Pork belly kushiyaki was not stellar; normally I expect bacon, even if uncured, to taste great. This was so-so. The dynamite was plentiful, but also just OK, nothing special. But the yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and other raw fish were, IMHO, fresh and made me want more. And I did have 2 more rounds of hand rolls and nigiri. Oh BTW the fried stuff, tempura shrimp is probably the best I've had in an AYCE sushi joint. The calamari was also above average. My frriend missed the fried oyster; staff said it was no longer available. All of them (3 wait staff) were very nice and always asked us if we wanted more. My main gripe is the diet pepsi came in a can. I abhor places that serve soda in a can. WTH, soda is cheap to give it bottomless, so that rubbed me the wrong way. But I was just enjoying the salmon, eel, and salmon skin hand rolls. As for ambiance, one could see many hanging flags or banners with caricatures from the Edo (ancient name of Tokyo) era. Being on an elevated pad, it offered a view. I'd like to try this place at night. The dining area was clean, well-appointed, and had a lot of displays. What I did not see was the iconic tsunami picture by Hokusai. I digress, this is a restaurant, not a Japanese cultural center. Lastly, if I remember correctly Hibiki is a class of cruisers during the last war. So what, I was full and left the place happy.

So, it's not the best sushi I have ever had. I think they have a great price and great selection for all you can eat. The only thing I didn't care for was the yammy crispy. The service has always been pleasant...and these reviews are puzzling. And if you like green tea ice cream, it's so worth the price...they give you a huge serving...definitely enough to share!

Wow... I wouldn't know where to start on this review. If I could give this review no stars that would be great... but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that the owners will never check reviews about the restaurant.. My friends and I came here for dinner tonight. We were immediately sat at a table as soon as we walked in the door. It took about 15-20 minutes for a server to finally come to our table and take our order. Having never been here before the "All you can eat" menu was a decent price of $20/person. Our order consisted of: Appetizer: Edamame: never came out to our table gyoza: 5 pieces for $6- not worth ordering Raw fish: All of the plates that the fish were served on were warm when it's usually supposed to be room temperature to cold Tuna Sushi: ok Salmon Sushi: ok Spicy tuna Roll: ok Passion Roll: there was a hair in it about 18 inches long. (charged another 2 dollars on top of what I paid because it is not on the AYCE menu) Albacore roll: too much sauce and thick pieces of jalapeno. WTF?! Scallop sushi: tasted ok but presentation was horrible: Scallop roll: tasted exactly like the scallop sushi salmon roll: ok Cooked fish: Salmon Skin roll: it looked ok till I got a taste of it. Very fishy tasting. Service staff: Had to ask a server for another pair of chopsticks. Had to flag down a server just to get our drink order. The total bill came out to $77 for 3 people 19.95 +tax per person arnold palmer: $3 shirley temple: $2 apple juice: $2 Passion roll: $1.95 (extra charge) After looking over my bill with the extra charge of the passion roll that we never touched. The server asked me what was wrong. I explained to him what the situation was and asked to see the manager. I waited for 5-10 minutes at my table before the manager arrived. The passion roll was never taken off my bill and I had to demand at least some sort of compensation. I had to tell her to take the passion roll off of my bill and at least complement me one or two drinks. It would have taken at $4 - $6 off of my bill. After hearing my concern she immediately got angry at me and proceeded to yell at me across the restaurant in front of other guest in the dining room. My reply "are you sure you want to yell at me in front of the other patrons?" She finally gave in and took the passion roll off of my bill and complemented me 1 drink. The amount of time just to adjust my bill was 30-45 min. I was also given a dirty look by the manager when I was walking out the door. Will I come here again? HHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Came to this place really late. We were pleasantly surprised they were still open. Place i think is a little run-down. The service made up for it though. Food/sushi was ok. Probably won't be the first choice for a sushi place but i can see myself coming back again.

Probably the best all you can eat sushi spot. They try to get you seated as soon as possible. For the price you cant beat it. The service is not great but its not horrible. I will definitely come back and bring friends. However, the birthday songs get so annoying as they flash the lights at the restaurant, ALL OF THE LIGHTS. After the 4th time I was over it.

I've been here twice now and this place is absolutely terrible. You arrive and everyone is ready for all you can eat, but expect to wait half an hour for your food. Ordering is menu based for both sushi and kitchen food. It's not like most all you can eat type sushi places, where you tell your chef (who's in front of you) what you would like next. The sushi isn't great. The fish is almost paper thin with about a handfull of rice below. The rice is plain and smashed into a dense ball. However, If you like rolls, this might be a good place for you. Their cooked food is all fried and extremely greasy. I am going to have to pass next time and not become a repeat customer.

Purely based upon the poor reviews I will not try this place out ever!!!!!! Thanks to the poeple who take the time to provide your honest opinions. My dollar, especially these day's, is much to valuable to try out this resturant and there are wayyy to many other eateries to waste time on this place. Sadly, I think the owner does not give a heck and obviously he does not read reviews like the three stars or less to make changes for the better.

I went here to eat for my cousin's birthday and it was interesting. We ordered the All You Can Eat and chose several dishes from their rather extensive list. I thought the quality would suffer, but it was surprisingly well made. The food here is definitely a plus. Sure there were some that didn't fit our taste, but that's more due to the fact that we were ordering a wide variety to try out some new ones that we haven't had before. The location and setting is nice as well. Located somewhat up a mountain, it gives a nice view of the city down below. The restaurant interior has a nice japanese motif going on as well. Now for the bad news. As it was stated by several reviewers, the service is lacking... Quite a bit actually. They didn't have very many customers, but it was still hard to try and track down a waiter to refill our water and take a new round of orders. There also seems to be some confusion among the waitstaff as well. The speed in which the food came out was borderline slow. This may have been because they only had 2 or 3 sushi chef working at the time. NOTE: Some of the complaints on here by some of the reviewers is, quite frankly, ridiculous. Of course they are going to charge you if you only eat half of your plate. You're eating sushi for $20. It would probably cost you 2-3x as much to eat the same amount elsewhere. They don't want people to leave half eaten plates everywhere just so that they can try other plates. It's a business

I havent tried the all you can eat many times to offer an honest review. I've tried it maybe once and it was okay. Not the best but good enough for me. I'm writing this review about the Shabu Shabu. I've been looking far and wide for a shabu shabu place in the SCV and I've found only one! Hibiki. But it doesnt matter because I go to LA for my shabu shabu fix or Tokyo Shabu Shabu (which is THE BEST EVER, but it's too far) Hibiki always has fresh meat and it tastes damn good. My husband and I eat here maybe once a week. Only comment is their slow service. And there's these servers, Jeremy (?) and thwho is not the friendliest person. Maybe you should make him work behind the counter instead of being the host.

WOW!!! I am shocked by the reviews I read BEFORE eating at this restaurant. As always, I read the Yelp reviews before trying somewhere new. However, I was invited by a friend and was "forced" to go. Let me start by saying that the service was exceptional. I started with the service being that this was the #1 reason for bad reviews. I received a warm welcome right upon entry and the great service remained throughout the entire meal. Granted, it may have been because I sat at the sushi bar instead of at an actual table in the large restaurant. The sushi chefs were on top of our order and we never went a minute without food in front of us. The food was great! I had albacore sushi, a few rolls, baked green mussels, edamame and a green tea ice cream. All of the food was fresh and delicious. The Snow Roll had a little too much "eel sauce" (sweet sauce) for my liking; however, my friend really enjoyed it. The albacore sushi was fresh and right on par with the other sushi places I normally frequent. The edamame was served hot and the baked green mussels were exactly what I was expecting. This place is DEFINITELY worth the $19.95 "all-you-can-eat". I will be back and give another review then to let you know if the consistency is there. Stay tuned..........

This is the cheapest All You Can Eat place in the SCV, so if you want quantity and not quality then come here. Otherwise go to Love Sushi down the street from this place. The sushi pieces are mostly all rice with a thin slice of fish, the fish isn't fresh, and it takes a while to get your food. But the rolls here are decent, so if you don't like raw fish and prefer rolls then this place would be good for you. Recommendations: lobster roll, sean's roll, heart attack roll.

Love this place! Favorite all you can eat sushi, can't beat the price or selection for $19.99 only drawback is have to eat all you order or charged at regular price! But hasnt' happened to me yet since I starve myself all day before I go to load up to make it worth mywhile. Oh and serive is so-so but again love the food!

I'm not a fan of fish, so I've never taken advantage of their "All You Can eat Sushi". The people that I've gone with absolutely love it, though, and they always try a couple new things each time and are usually happy with almost everything. The non-fish main dishes have all been wonderful so far. My favorite is the yaki udon with beef. It is AMAZING. The noodles are fantastic, the beef is wonderful, and the flavors are rich. Cannot praise it enough. The pork belly kushiyaki with teriyaki sauce is delicious. It looks like it is going to be a little too fatty, but they cook it perfectly so it's crisp and has a nice texture instead of being chewy. The taste of the pork belly itself is wonderful, even without the teriyaki sauce. The chicken kushiyaki with teriyaki sauce was OK but not great. The saki is good, haven't tried the beers yet. I'd read on here that the service often gets poor marks, which confuses me. The service when I go has always been great. We are usually quickly seated and someone arrives to take our order soon. Food comes quick enough, drinks are refill in a timely fashion, and the staff are friendly. I've never gone with in groups larger than 4-5.

I am a definite fan of Hibiki. I have been here at least a handful of times and have received great food. Service can be better. It seems as if they coudl benefit with more waiters/waitresses. majority of the times I have gone it was pretty busy and there just wasn't enough wait staff to accomodate all the customers. Sushi is tasty and the best part of AYCE is the various items and price!

    (4)
  • John Z.

I came here on a monday with a friend. We were both really hungry so we got the AYCE. I couldn't believe there were over 87 items to choose from. Some of my favorites were the vegas roll, lobster roll, albacore delight roll & the angie roll. The sushi was decent. The only cons were slow service. Me & my friend waited a long time for our food to come but other than that I had a good lunch.

READ THIS IF YOU'RE GOING HERE Ok...Grace and her coworkers decided to eat here last night. I went because I need to eat too. It was real far from Glendale which is my Base of Operations for now. Ok now begins the fun: Location/Parking: It has a lot accessible from Shangri La road. But if you missed it, you can park at the bottom lot and take the stairs up. It elevated so you can't miss it. Atmosphere: It looks very......Japanese. Sushi Bar and paper lanterns galore. Patio available if weather allows. Food: All you can eat for $20 on 87+ items. You can't really go wrong. Can you? Keep reading. Just speaking about the food, it was good. Some better than others. I wanted Bulgogi but it's not one of the items on the buffet menu. You have to order the food off a paper menu you fill out and hand the server. I want Bulgogi but settled for the buffet. The items I ordered were Fried Chicken, Crunchy something Roll, California Roll, Kevin's Roll ****I'll bring this up later****, and some other stuff everyone ordered. YOU NEED TO EAT AT LEAST HALF OF ITEMS YOU ORDER OR THEY CHARGE YOU FOR IT. Food for the most part was 3 stars. SERVICE: This place sucked major b*lls. Service was non-existant. It wasn't even that crowded. By my count, 5-6 other parties in the joint. 3-4 servers. 2 guys behind the sushi bar. Robert A. was right. They use these tricks to stifle your appitite and conserve cost. They can bite me sideways because I didn't even get my Kevin Roll. No one checked on us. I had to get up and track a server down to hand him our order. WTF.....and they added tip because of our party size. Bull$%1t......I would have left a penny if I could. Only service I thought was good was a female server who came by and brought me my second glass of wine. Other than that, it rots here. Maybe they don't like their jobs or hate Sushi...I don't know...but it ruined my night. I should have just ordered the Bulgogi....instead of waiting for nothing to happen..... Conclusion: If you're a risk taker, do it...it may have been an off night...but I doubt it....I don't recommend unless you don't mind waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for food that may not come.

Went here with a group for all-you-can-eat sushi because we had a coupon and it was slightly less money than the surrounding sushi bars.. Their sushi is awful. Not only did the fish not taste "fresh," but there was so little of it compared to the rice I almost thought it was a bad prank.. I literally had to dig through the rice to see if there was fish in it. That will be my last time there.

    (1)
  • Steph H.

Horrible!! Quoted 20 min for wait which took 45 min! Then sat at a table that didn't fit our group and waited 20 min to order! Never ever coming back!!!!

  • Eric L.

I wanna say it's great but it's only mediocre. I've been here a total of 3 times. The first 2 times were outstanding. You can't beat All You Can Eat for $20 plus great prices on beer. 100 oz of beer for like $15 is a steal in my opinion. The food itself is worth going here for. It's nothing fancy but is still tasty. The specialty rolls are great and their teriyaki chicken is worth trying. The last time I went here was with a group of about 8 people. I was the first to arrive with 2 other friends. They wouldn't seat us till our whole group showed up. After arguing with a few different servers they finally sat the few of us that where there. We waited a few minutes and most of our party had arrived, but it still took the server about 10-15 minutes to take just our drink orders. Finally, once the whole group was together we all ordered AYCE. By the time we got our food, after a very long wait, they messed up hardcore. They brought us things we never ordered and never brought things we did order. We ordered more and again they messed it up. Mind you, while we were there is was hardly busy at all. Finally we finished and got up to go. By this time it was packed in there, so getting our check issue solved took forever. (Splitting the bill.) All the male servers were horrible that day. Thank goodness for the white female who was there. Bless her heart. I will go back, never again with a large group, but it definitely won't be for a long time. I need a Hibiki break.

$19.99 All You Can Eat sushi and menu/appetizer items? You can't beat that. Yeah the sushi gets "riced" out but who DOESN'T do that. Do the all you can eat. Special rolls are great.

I love this place, the all you can eat price is amazing-not to mention the all you can drink beer is great too. Everything that we ordered was really good and the sushi was fresh. We did had to wait a little bit but we did have 7 people so that's understandable for any place, especially on a friday night.

Garbage! In every sense of the word. If I could give this place negative stars, I swear to you I would. It still perplexes me as to how this place remains open; maybe some form of drug cartel taking place in the back? In all seriousness, the staff were ridiculously rude and slow to help. When I say slow, I mean slow. Had to wait 15 minutes just to be sat in a very open restaurant that wasn't busy by any means and four servers on the floor. If 4-5 tables is too much for four servers to handle, you have one sorry establishment on your hands. After finally being sat, we ordered our All You Can Eat (AYCE) sushi... Well we filled out the paper menus at least. 15-20 minutes later when I was able to flag down a waitress our order was submitted. And then we waited another 30 minutes for some of our food. Granted a few more tabes were filled during this time, it was nowhere near enough to have a drastic impact on the staffs' ability to function. I could go on but I'm beginning to get angry and turn green just by recalling the experience and there really isn't much else I can add besides what's been said. If you go to this restaurant, you hate babies. You don't hate babies... Do you?

Hibiki is what I would call average. I have eaten here multiple times. The food to me is pretty good and there all you can eat is reasonable, but there service is horrible. Before Hibiki was there, they had some other restaurants that had good food and service, but they all went out of business. I think Hibiki is the only restaurant that lasted more than 2 years there. I can see why they are considered good. When you go there don't expect service to be that good. They are slow and some are very rude. There all you can eat deal is pretty good though. $20 for almost 75 percent of the menu. There plain sushi is what ever just like most places, but there special dishes are good. Most of there tempura rolls are amazing. If you get an actual meal for the all you can eat, its a waste because they give you the full plate dish, rice, and salad. If you don't finish they'll charge you double. There lunch is reasonable and good but can be found at almost any other sushi place. I'd only recommend there specialty rolls and lunch. If your looking for quality sushi I'd recommend you to go somewhere else.

Have to go with the majority here on the service. Right away we all noticed our waiter seemed to be upset that he had to work. Our waitress on the other hand was very friendly and they did come back to refill drinks and clear away empty plates. I would like to give more stars for the food. I recommend the Heart Attack roll (stuffed jalepeno's) and California crunch roll. We did not do the buffet but we did order appetizers and alcohol in addition to our entrees. For four people it cost about $70 plus tip. Not bad. I plan to go back but maybe take the food home. :)

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE WARNING BELOW BEFORE DINING HERE. I am really torn on this place. The sushi is good, and the views of the valley are AMAZING at night. Since it sits up on a hill, during the summer you can dine outside on the patio and enjoy the air and the view. My problem is with the customer service - or lack there of. They offer an all-you-can-eat special for $19.95 per person, which does not include drink or dessert. However, they have a few tricks up their sleeve to minimize their losses. First, they are slow to take your order. Once you order, they "forget" to tell the chef everything you ordered and you have to request a new order sheet each time. And, if you don't eat at least half of each item, THEY BILL YOU FOR THE UNEATEN ITEM IN ADDITION TO THE ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT CHARGE!!! Make sure you're hungry when you go there, and make sure you only order what you think you're going to eat. Overall, good food with poor service.

The restaurant is very nice inside and the decor suggests that this is a very high-class place with prices to match. It's really just a very big sushi restaurant with a baby grand in the middle of the place. The outdoor patio is unused and filthy ,and an eye soar to those seated facing it. The food is descent, I ordered some teriyaki that and tempura this and it was all good enough, nothing specular. The sushi is good and enough to bring you back, but not enough to rave about it. The service was very slow, no matter how they tried to make up for it in niceties. This is really the worse part about this place.

so this is one of the five sushi places i have tried. I came here once with my football team and must say evryone left happy and absolutely stuffed with ok quality sushi. However, my best experience i had here was with my father . We came here at about two o clock on a sunday and the place was not crowded at all we ordered the all you can eat option and tried various types of nigiri sushi. The quality of the sushi was much better with a small party of people. The hand rolls are mostly rice and not so much fish. all in all this is the kind of place you go to if your looking to get stuffed with decent quality sushi. But, if you want amazing quality go across the steet to Love Sushi.

  • Lisa C.

I've been to this restaurant twice. The food is decent for what it is, at least the All You Can Eat. The rolls are alright, the tempura over-breaded, service is ok. My big gripe about this place is one waitress we had to deal with both times, an older Korean lady, like an older Margaret Cho. She leans on the rude side and OVER EMPHASIZES the double charge for food not eaten. We overheard the table behind us on our second visit and pretty much heard the same thing about the waitress. Will I go back again? Probably not. The older Margaret Cho look-alike killed it.

My partner in crime and I decided to go here for the "all you eat sushi" special. We thought it might be a good deal. The stipulations were: 1. All sushi must be eaten, including the rice. 2. You be charged extra for not eating all the pieces of sushi you order. 3. 90 minute time limit. 4. Try to eat as much as you can, so you can try other selections. 5. We asked for calamaRi, they gave us calamaLi. Not very good engRish here, but well enough to understand. Synopsis: The sushi was not as good as others, I have been to. The prices are steep. The service is slow to mediocre at best. We were given the bill for the table next to us. (A group of 9 people that ordered a butt load of drinks and didn't finish the sushi). We straightened that out, thank goodness! The one thing that kept me wondering was.....what is that ingredient they use that makes you want to go # 2 every 20 minutes? Hmm, let's not explore that one!

This place seriously has the worst service in the world. Don't come here if you want to be treated like dirt. The manager/our waiter, JEREMY, was just horrible. As soon as he was taking our order, he gave our group dirty looks. At one point, he even set down (or I should say SLAMMED) a dish so hard that the contents inside of it flew out. I don't even know how this place is still open with the horrible service they have.

I had just come back from Vegas $1,000 richer after winning a poker tournament at Caesar's so I asked my buddy Dennis... where do you wanna eat? I don't remember what he answered, but we ate here. We couldn't find the parking lot, so we parked at a lot down the hill and walked up some dark stairs. GPS is definitely better than listening to him. OK - AYCE. That's why we went. The quality was okay for AYCE, not great but not sucky either - just in case you needed "okay" defined. As Dennis said: tako salad sucked.. not enough octopussy. He's right. It was 90% cucumber and they charge if you don't eat everything. Before you go, think of some way to dispose of excess rice. While he kept lookout for the waitress, I stuffed rice into my water cup and used the straw to push it under the ice. You can also spread it out over the plates as they are being collected like you are a messy eater.

One of the best ayce sushi places I've ever been to. There menu is huge and they have so many good variations. To The people that have it one star... I will admit that sometimes they can take a while, but It's an ayce sushi place. Sit down and relax and enjoy all the sushi you can eat

Heard from others that this place has improved so we checked it out and have been here a few times after that in the last few weeks. :) Friendly customer service from the time we walked in and throughout our visit, fast & attentative. New items were added to the menu so I tried the new Rock Lobster & it was fantastic!

Regular customer (usually go about twice per month). Food quality and taste has greatly improved over the last year. They've recently expanded their menu with more specialty house rolls, which are delicious. There's a roll to accommodate just about every palate and preference. I'm addicted to their cucumber salad. The owners are always active on the floor and in the kitchen, helping customers and assisting their staff. Their staff are organized, helpful and welcoming. Sometimes, the servers are flakey and forgetful during the slower hours, which knocks off a star.

Best deal you'll ever get for AYCE sushi hands down, with decent quality too. However, this place has, time after time without fail, exhibited some of the worst service I have ever experienced. TLDR Version if you don't want to read below: Food is good, service/management is awful. Comes down to whether or not you think the good deal is worth the bad experience! I made the mistake of bringing a group of friends with me. Place was not busy and we were a group of 8 but they constantly withheld food from us. And when my friend found a PLASTIC WRAPPER in her soup, the server did not apologize on behalf of anyone or in general. After that we just paid the bill and left, but I was really embarrassed since I had raved about the value in this place to my friends. However, after that incident (along with the many others I assure you) I have reconsidered the value of this establishment and have deemed it as not worth anyone's time. *I have been to this restaurant since the revamp, servers are better but management plus withholding of food is still a problem! Hibiki, if you are reading this, stop not putting our orders in!!! We end up waiting forever and no one even lets is know that our food hasn't been put in!

The absolute worst experience ever. First I'd like start by saying my friend an I are regulars to this place we've always loved to eat here. Today was a game changer an we will never be coming back. We started off normal good service nice convos. Then our waitress left an went on break not letting us know who our new server was...then we sat for 40 min with no water refills an no new paper to order all you can eat. I then mentioned that we haven't gotten refills an they apologized but never came back with water refills. So we waited 15 more minutes didn't get our last soup that we ordered so we left. Walked up to the cash counter asked to pay but with some discount for the absurd service, only to be told that there's nothing they can do. So Hibiki thank you but no thank you, an good looking on losing two long time customers.

If you have never been here before, and you are about to step through the front door, my advice to you is leave now. Make the drive into the Valley and go to a REAL sushi restaurant. We came here on a recommendation from someone we'll never listen to again. The place was crowed and not one person was at the sushi bar. It's a Friday night and I wondered why?? So we sat down and decided on the $22 something all you can eat. I'm not going to go through everything we ordered, just the disgusting stuff. UNI is NOT supposed to be brown and it's supposed to taste like the ocean. Tuna land albacore looked like it had been sitting for months. The kicker was the sweet shrimp that my boyfriend ordered and the heads came to us, RAW!! What the hell is going on here??? Some guy walks out from behind the kitchen looking like he just bit into a lemon and I see he's counting heads. This is the owner and he doesn't give a damn about the awful quality food he's serving he's only concerned about the all mighty dollar! Trust me... Go somewhere else! This was by far the worst sushi I have ever had!

  • Adrian M.

Let me just say, I have never experienced service this bad before in my life. I always say to myself "maybe they're having a bad night" "maybe it's just the server or the server is having a bad day" I have come to realize I've been lying to myself. After maybe 5-6 chances I am fed up. I sat there for 20 minutes with an empty water cup until I finally stood up, walked to another table to get the pitcher, and refill my own cup. This is while at least 4 servers are watching me. The sushi it's self I've come to realize it's the worst quality I've had. Young staff not trained one bit, how this place is in business? I have no clue. Stay away!

I loved this place. So many appetizers, entrees, and rolls to choose from. Everything tasted great and service was quick. Food presentation was also nice. Sad we missed happy hour during the week. 2 dollar beer would have been great. Highly recommend this place!

Horrible experience. Everything was fine at first. They seated us immediately, brought out our drinks. It was at happy hour ending and there was maybe 2 other couples in the restaurant. The Shrimp Tempura was good but not the best I've had. The Angie roll was delicious but when my daughter started to get fussy due to ANTS!! Crawling on her I felt disgusted and lost my appetite almost immediately. I had to empty our Diaper bag and get all the ants out because I sure as hell wasn't going to take them home! The waitress apologized and gave us the bill, she felt very embarrassed and I felt bad for her. The manager or owner came out and was surprised to see all the ants covering one of the booths we sat next to. I'm not coming back to Hibiki unfortunately this one bad experience is enough to keep me away. If there are ants in the section where customers eat, I can't imagine their kitchen. Reconsider coming here or make sure you're not seated in a Ant infested seat.

I used to go to Hibiki's with my husband who liked it way more than I did. But since they changed to the new menu I am now a loyal fan. Kudos to the owner who realized that the old menu was not working. The new menu has such a good and tasty variety now and I can't try all that I want to try in one or two visits. The sushi chefs are now pleasant and greet you when you walk in. The wait staff (Stephanie and Abraham) really make you feel like family. The food has improved 150 percent. I love the new menu and the way they are presenting the food has vastly improved. I love the lob me fire appetizer...delish... The change in the menu, presentation and atmosphere has been welcomed with open arms..Now I can come back without hesitation and have great food and really enjoy our visit... COME Back...You will not regret it.

Every time I've gone I'm not that impressed. Service always takes awhile, and the food comes out pretty slow. I know somewhat recently they've changed their menu and this last time I got pretty much got the same rolls that I normally from each sushi place I go to and I just didn't really like it. So this last time just really turned me away from this place.

A friend of mine introduced me to this place several months ago and it has become my favorite place to take my children out for Sushi. The AYCE menu makes it an affordable option because my children don't like the rolls much but they love the sashimi, which can get quite expensive when that's what they want to fill up on. The service can be so so at times. I've had terrible service there, and then I've had over the top service. I think they had forgotten to put our orders in because it once took over 30 minutes to get a roll and then I've had to ask several times for a fork for my children, and eventually I had to get up and get it myself, and it wasn't even that busy that day. The food is good, but definitely not 5 star quality. I wouldn't expect that for an AYCE place and for the price, so I do think it's good value for what you pay. A great place to go if your looking to keep your cost down.

Not putting a full review just my thoughts on some of the items I tried from their new menu, and gave three stars based on that: Popcorn lobster roll was good-popcorn part was a little dry but other that very good. There's one that started with an H I'm not too to sure but it was with a lemon peel and tomato on top, I didn't care for that one just for those choices of ingredients. The citrus from the lemon was too overpowering. Salmon lover I didn't really care for either. Shishito peppers: I had to ask them to cook it more because it was too much in its raw state. After that it was good. White Tuna sushi-BOMB!!!! Melts in your mouth ::drool:: Overall, I commend them for making the effort to modernise their menu and in the end enjoyed it.

I've come to this place a number of times just to get my sushi craving fixed. Sushi rolls can get pretty expensive but I always find that this place has reasonable prices for their rolls. Their "all you can eat" deal is pretty reasonable as well, considering if you can eat at least 3 rolls by yourself. The quality of their rolls is not spectacular but still will satisfy. Their food is pretty tasty when you're hungry! I have no real complaints about their food. I've only tired their rolls and nothing else, so I don't know how their other dishes are. Service is good- again, I don't have any complaints. From the times that I've visited, my order has came to my table fairly quickly. That's always a plus. Overall this place is good and it'll satisfy, but its nothing too grandiose.

The food here is great! However, the server, I believe her name is Jessica, IS NOT. My friend and I had our order all ready and she continued to walk by us and ignore us for about 20 minutes. She finally took our order and unfortunately that was the last we saw of her. She was always standing around and doing nothing and we had to have other servers help us, which they were awesome and attentive. Jessica never checked up on us once after or even made eye contact. I'll still come back but never want to be served by her ever again.

Kid friendly, loud and fun. Good drinks specials , food is reasonable but it's more of a family place than somewhere to take a date

New chef , new menu and new items! I must say that the food improved a great deal. We stopped going last year and decided to go back tonight for my husbands birthday. We were surprised how everything is much tastier and well prepared !

Dont ever order the beef steek roll or mango mania roll , it took an hour and a half to get my food. Its not 23 bucks all u can eat its more like 23 bucks for how long you can wait. #thisplacesucks. I signed up to yelp just to post this up . This place is ridiculous

If I were doing this reviewing about my first 2 visits, I would've given this restaurant '4 stars' however, fir my past 5+ visits during the past year or so, I now have to give it 2 stars. Pros: all you can eat menu options @ fair price although it did go up $3+ per person. -free dessert on your bday must show ID Cons: time limit of 90 minutes from moment THEY input your order onto their system - different chefs and waiters and waitresses whenever we visit -cheesy birthday them song -owner is always their and most of the time we find him loud and obnoxious. - quality of food and service has decreased dramatically over the last few years or so We used to go there at least twice a week for many years.. Now we regret going there once a year.. Don't know when go back there .. Maybe next year and hope we don't regret it again! Thanks for reading from an old frequent customer of theirs!

Clearly a money laundering facility. How they stay in business, I'll never understand! And that huge place is not cheap to rent.....

All you can eat dinner for $22.95 is a great deal, add in all you can drink for additional $7.95. Come on, for the price, portion size and quality, it cannot be beat. A must order are the CrispyChips! Crispy Chips are spicy tuna nugget, topped with avocado, and two sauces. Absolutely delish!!!

Still in love with this place! The $19.95 deal for ALL YOU CAN EAT for lunch is amazing! Every other place is $23+, and not even as great. I will always come back here for their great food and great service :)

I came here for my birthday with a few friends and ordered the ayce. We weren't expecting much but it ended up being a terrible time. The waiter took an hour and a half to get our first order in--that's how long you have for ayce! I absolutely lost my mind. I never have neglected a server a tip, but this guy made me. He was rude, never refilled my drink and refused to hear any complaints from me. Anyway, I've eaten at this establishment multiple times and always come back for the ayce. It's a decent price for decent sushi in a decent amount of time. Their drink specials are pretty good, too. Needless to say I will most likely go back. I absolutely will not have that guy as my server, but I'll go back. The food's okay, best when intoxicated.

I love this place and come here often. I would recommend the Firefighter roll and lobster roll. The service was alright but has improved.

I have been to this place several times before, the food is not bad but the service is the worst service ever. I order all you can eat sushi, they never bring everything I order. They bring the rolls but the appetizers I have to keep reminding them what I ordered, and still they don't bring all of it. I don't get it. They never refill my drink I always have to track them down. I was there last night not only was the owner drinking from the draft which is very unprofessional he was berating his staff screaming and slamming doors, till his wife had to take him outside. Biggest mistake to go there for New Year's eve dinner. The last couple times I was there I kept saying I wasn't going back because they have the worst service, but with the amount of money I paid last night with the service and food I received I'm definitely never going back.

Great for all you can eat. My hubby and I have several favorite rolls and the menu is constantly evolving with even better items. The staff is really on point as well too.

Worst sushi place ever. Well sort of. My friend and i come here often and this time it was just hottible. Bad customer service and realy bad sushi. We tried to explain to the waitresses how bad yhe food was for us but they insisted on how it wasnt. Wont come back again.

I love the sushi here, the Sean's roll and hot night roll are my ultimate favorites! At times it is empty, but I think I prefer it sort of quiet because you get to talk with the people in your table and don't need to talk loudly. We came for one of my friends birthday and love how their ice cream tempura is free on the day of your birthday, and they sing also :) which is a good plus. So overall this place is a good place to eat sushi and will come back many times for sure!

So far my favorite sushi place in SCV. AYCE is reasonably priced and includes almost everything on the extensive menu. So many choices! Sushi is always fresh. The expanded menu makes it even better than it already was. Spicy tuna chip appetizer is a must. Angies roll and hot night roll are always delicious. A little upset they tamed the bomb special (tower of beer and 2 things of saki). It really made the experience something else. Bring back the bomb tower!

The ambiance is very peaceful. Came in at about 19:00 Wednesday night and we enjoyed our dinner very much. The young man that attended us was very nice and very quick. The wife enjoyed her oudan noodle soup definitely ask to add grilled chicken though. The combination tempura was good, my teriyaki chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious. Will come back again soon.

I really love this place! I love the feel and atmosphere of it, a lot better than Bonsai. The restaurant got 4 stars cuz like everyone has stated before me- service really effin sucks :/ I was never in a hurry the times I went it but this last time I went with my 2 kids both under the age of 5 and they got so restless waiting for their food. Other than that the food is great here. You can't beat their AYCE deal at $20 per person. I really wish they would step up their service. They're really busy during the weekend but week days are good

This place has really gone downhill in the last year or two. It was never the best sushi, but it was reasonable quality for the price. Recently, they changed their menu, taking many items off the AYCE menu, and adding upcharges to others. The quality has also declined; the sushi is sliced much thinner than before. The last time my family went, they harassed us about how much we were ordering, asking if our kids (ages 3 and 4) were eating our AYCE food, even though they had ordered their own food, then saying we had used up all our time for the AYCE, when we were finished anyway. This restaurant seems to be getting quite desperate.

Just went here with my family for the first and last time. Food was decent, had a few different rolls and desert for the kids. Waitress forgot my wifes order then she forgot my sons dessert?? There were only 4 tables occupied but I guess talking with the other waitress was more important.. I will stick with Mr. Sushi, way better sushi and they take good care of you.

1 cent refills on beer for $6 added to the already ridiculously cheap all-you-can-eat sushi makes this a slam dunk. The sushi isn't the best ever, but it's very good and a great value!

If I can give them zero stars I would!!! Service sucked!!!! I went for all you can eat and the lady was so rude after I order 3 rolls...she kept ignoring me...so I decide to leave and left NO tip... I guess I'll just go back to Rolla, Yamato, and Shogun for sushi!!!

Love the new menu items, Hibiki Sushi has improved 100%, I've been back 4 times since the new menu items and will be going back much more. it's now $22.95 for ayce but worth it.

Restuarant was empty upon arrival. The sushi was mediocre. My friend ordered the Lobster rock roll, which is a California roll with deep fried lobster tempura. The whole roll was served cold. You would think that if you ordered something with tempura, it would be hot. Instead, we got a cold roll with cold, grease filled lobster in old tempura batter. It was disgusting. Never coming back again.

If anyone put 2 or more stars on this place, it's because they have NO tasebuds and have never actually been to good places and don't know what's good sushi. Their baked mussels are nothing more than a drop of mayo in the oven. I had their kushiyaki and the pork belly was inedible and the chicken was dry. Only had 3 servers on the floor and they looked like they didn't know what busy or what urgency was. Was here for more than 2 hours and only had 4 rolls, a salad and 2 entrees. Wanted to order more but the servers were nowhere to be found AT ALL. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I hope a lone missile hits this place.

Even though they have delicious food, the quality of service was so poor that I don't think I will ever be returning. After an hour and a half of waiting, we still hadn't received 1/3 of our rolls. When we requested to speak to the manager, our server repeatedly ignored our request and instead tried to serve us our rolls although we told her we just wanted our bill. The people seated behind us also had the same issue. Not only did we leave hungry I still had to pay near full price for bad service.

This is mine and my husband's #1 choice to go for Japanese food. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, though my husband is (he LOVES Hibiki), but I do love noodle bowls and the soups and other items (other than the slabs of raw fish on rice), and I've never had a disappointing meal! LOVE THIS PLACE!

We were craving for ramen. So we decided to come here. The environment of the restaurant is nice. We ended up ordering the spicy ramen. When it came we were very disappointed. The ramen that they served was the instant ramen. It tasted exactly like Shin Ramyun! Why am I spending $25 for two bowls of instant ramen? If they cut corners with the ramen, I shudder to think what they do with their sushi!

We have been coming to Hibiki for more than 5 years. The sushi is always fresh, the service is usually awesome (for your first AYCE round) and everyone is friendly. Get the 15% off from Clipper magazine or sign up on their website. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is lively. Unless you're a real snob you will like it!
